Wang Xizhi and Xiyan Lake

Wang Xizhi, a native of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, created a beautiful and fluent calligraphy font, which is called "the saint of calligraphy". He began to practice calligraphy at the age of seven. There is a pool in front of Wang Xizhi's house, where he washes his brush every time he practices calligraphy. Twenty years later, he washed the original clear pool in front of his door black every day, and then people called it "Mo Chi". Allusions to "Mo Chi".

Xiyan Lake, also known as Yanchi, Mo Chi and Echi, is located at No.20 Yanchi Street, Linyi City, Shandong Province, in the former residence of Wang Xizhi, and is a national key cultural relics protection unit; Wang Langya, represented by Wang Xizhi in the Jin Dynasty, once studied in this pool, which led to "the water in the pool was completely black".

Linyi is an ancient historical and cultural city and the hometown of Wang Xizhi, a "book saint". According to legend, after practicing calligraphy hard in his childhood, Wang Xizhi often went to the pool to wash inkstones. After a long time, the water in the pool became dark, so people called it "Xiyan Lake" and ancient literati also called it "Mo Chi".

Wang Mian, a poet and painter in Yuan Dynasty, once wrote a poem: "There are trees beside my house in Xiyan Lake, and there are light ink marks when flowers bloom and fall. Don't boast of lewdness, just leave a breath and do it all. "
