Memories of Zhong Yulong Miss Father Zhong Yulong Oral: Zhong Jiuan

Our Zhong family used to be a big family in Hangzhou. Tomb-Sweeping Day and winter solstice focus on graves, and there are always twenty or thirty sedan chairs at the door. At that time, there was a saying called "Zhong Halfway", which described that there were many Zhong family members. In the year of Geng, the Taiping Army arrived in Hangzhou, and the Zhong family dispersed.

1880, when my father was born, my family was embarrassed, and my grandfather went to Shanghai with my grandmother, uncle and father. Grandfather works two jobs and earns 300 taels of silver a month. The family is well off. Unfortunately, the good times did not last long. When my father was 5 years old and my uncle was 8 years old, my grandfather fell ill and died. Grandma returned to Hangzhou with two children. Three months later, she followed her grandfather. Grandpa has more than a dozen intimate friends and decided to take care of two orphans together. There is a private school in Maolang Lane, where my uncle and father are sent to study. The teacher's name is Wang Youshu. The Wangs have no children. The two brothers eat and live there, study with their teachers during the day and take care of their wives at night. At that time, studying with his father, there was another child named Wang Fuan (Wang Gan), also 5 years old, who was later the founder of Xiling Printing Society. Five years later, Wang Youshu died. In order to find a way for children, my grandfather's friend decided to let my uncle do business and my father study. My uncle was taken to a pawnshop as an apprentice. At the age of 23, he was seriously ill and passed away. My father made an appointment with Zou Diansan, the richest friend at that time. Until now, my family and the descendants of the Zou family are still in contact.

At that time, it was the imperial examination era. My father was preparing to take the imperial examination and studied very hard. A friend of my grandfather's surnamed Zhu told Zou Diansan that my family's economy was not very good, so he helped Zhong Yulong change the article. With everyone's help, my father was admitted to the scholar first, and then won the prize. I was 26 years old. Shortly after the imperial examination, the Qing dynasty decided to abolish the imperial examination and set up a school. So my father became the last imperial examination officer in the Qing Dynasty. My father took advantage of his youth to teach in four schools at first, namely Provincial No.1 Middle School, Ding 'an Middle School, Wenzong Middle School and Women's Normal School. His subjects are Chinese, history, geography and cultivation. At that time, the traffic was inconvenient, and my father came and went in a sedan chair every day. When teaching Chinese in middle schools, Zhu, the first principal at that time, attached great importance to his father. Before he died, he chose his father as the principal.

192 1 year, my father resigned from three other schools and became the principal of Wenzhong Middle School. He wrote a school song to encourage all the teachers and students in the school, and also asked Gao Yuzhan, a calligrapher, to write the school motto left by President Zhu on white cloth and hang it in the auditorium, which later disappeared due to the war. /kloc-in the winter of 0/937, the Japanese invaders stormed Hangzhou, and my father moved the school to Yanzhou, now Jiande, borrowed an ancestral hall as a classroom, rented a hall to store books and equipment, and rented 20 yuan every month. 1938, the school moved to Yandang Mountain in Wenzhou to spread culture and education, which provided good reading opportunities for children in the war. In the past, there was a rural style of "raising people to be the masters" in Zhejiang. When people die, they often write "master" on the ancestral tablet, but under normal circumstances, they don't write the word "master". This should be written by some celebrities and figures. At that time, in Wenzhou and Yanzhou, I was often called my father, and the grand place was called "Master".

After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, my father returned to Hangzhou and resigned as the principal of Wenzhong Middle School. Counting, he has been the principal of Wenzhong Middle School for 25 years. Later, Wenzhong Middle School was ordered to be renamed as Hangzhou Private Wenzhong Middle School, and his father became the chairman of the school board. Until 1956, the school was renamed as Hangzhou No.10 Middle School, and his chairman was also improper. The second year after returning to Hangzhou, the Kuomintang government set up the Senate in Pinghai Street. They asked my father to be a senator. Father declined several times, and finally went to represent the education sector. At the first meeting, my father saw that there was a clear stipulation in the meeting that those who did not attend the meeting for more than three times were deemed to have withdrawn automatically. So my father didn't go three times in a row. Just when I left the meeting happily, someone invited me again. At a meeting, everyone recommended my father to speak. Father said, I have an idea, since the Senate is a public opinion organization, don't hang party flag in the middle of the meeting. Later, party flag was removed. At that time, it was a sensation and made a big newspaper in Shanghai. At the same time, my father also served as editor-in-chief and deputy editor-in-chief of Zhejiang Tongzhi Museum. Later, he became a member of Hangzhou Confucius Temple Management Committee and Hangzhou Cultural Relics Management Committee.

After liberation, my father was almost 70 years old and spent most of his time at home. During the period of 1950, the government paid a return visit to some people who had attended the National Codonopsis Congress. At that time, Zhang, the president of Chufeng Bank, was a repeat customer. Once the household registration staff of the police station went to his house and saw a photo of his father on the wall, so they regarded his father as a repeat customer and asked him to go to Qingyin Township Primary School once a week. My father went to Shanghai to study once. After you came back from Shanghai, the comrades in the police station didn't call. Not long after, people from Hangzhou municipal government came and said that my father would be a member of Hangzhou CPPCC, then a member of the Standing Committee and then a vice chairman. My father spent his whole life educating, writing books and writing. I often see him reading and writing in his room at home. He wrote a lot of things, but unfortunately they were lost because of the war or the Cultural Revolution.

My father's "Talking about Hangzhou" manuscript is written with a brush, with more than 40 books and nearly 500,000 words, which is neat and heavy. There are almost no mountains, waters, bridges, alleys, customs, languages, temples, cities, wars, schools and garden villas in Hangzhou that he doesn't know or write about. After the manuscript is written, it will be exhibited in the lakeside calligraphy and painting club. Later, someone in Beijing invited it to Beijing for an exhibition. It's a pity that all the manuscripts were burned soon after I came back from Beijing, when the Cultural Revolution began. Fortunately, some of the contents have been printed into mimeographed copies and scattered on the market before, otherwise the book "Talking about Hangzhou" will definitely not stay. During the Cultural Revolution, my home was copied 1 1 day. Father was not abused, but his books and manuscripts were taken away in sacks. When they came to get it that day, my father said, I am a scholar, and my life's work is also teaching. I know you're here to break old four. I don't think this Kangxi dictionary is the fourth child. Can you stay? After he spoke, all the books at home were taken away except one Kangxi Dictionary. On the day they burned it, I thought my father had done a lifetime of education and wrote so many things that I couldn't burn it like this, so I secretly picked two manuscripts from the fire, all about education. It is still included in Talking about Hangzhou.

My father also writes novels. When I was in Wenzhong Middle School, my father and school teachers used to travel to the West Lake by boat. A teacher told my father that there were no novels in ancient China. You study literature and history. Can you write ancient novels? I didn't have time to write at first 1926, he started to work due to the suspension of classes in war-torn schools. When we asked him what books he had written, he smiled and said "take it for granted". It means that ancient things can only be written by thinking, and what you think is what you think. 1936 This book was published, and it is called Romance of Ancient Myths. This book is very good. Many people who have seen the list of gods and The Journey to the West have also seen the romance of ancient myths. My father also wrote a novella, Diary of an Unknown Woman, which is based on a historical material. After writing the novel, he bound the manuscript and took it out for calligraphy inscription. As soon as the book was issued, it hit the property of the Cultural Revolution, and it was copied from the calligrapher's house. In the late 1970s, I heard that the manuscript was in Hangzhou Library and was brought back by CPPCC and the Museum of Literature and History. It was about to be published in the early 1980 s, and suddenly a notice came, saying that the publishing industry should crack down on spiritual pollution. The title of father is stuck because of the word "strange woman".
