The calligraphy works collected in this book date from the Shang and Zhou dynasties to contemporary times. , a total of one hundred and eight volumes. There are two major categories of standing scrolls: 1. Dating scrolls; calligrapher scrolls. Each volume is divided into ten parts according to the era, and there are four parts including seal cutting, treatises, appendices and supplements.
Works compiled in chronological volumes mainly refer to oracle bone inscriptions, bronze inscriptions, bamboo slips, silk scripts, pottery and brick inscriptions, inscriptions, epitaphs, stone carvings, cliffs, statues, Writing scriptures etc. Such works are classified and compiled from generation to generation.
There are three types of collection rolls: Category A rolls are made by a single person; Category B rolls are made by two to four people; Category C rolls are made by multiple people or many people in a certain era who.
In addition to the preface and general table of contents, the contents of each volume in this book are divided into two categories. The dating volume includes: selected pages of primary-color artifacts or rubbings, introduction and monograph, plates of works, textual interpretation of plates, chronology, schematic diagram of the distribution of unearthed artifacts and works, main cited references and documents, and catalog of plates. The calligrapher volume includes: portraits of calligraphers (Category A volume), original color calligraphy calligraphy or selected pages of original color works, commentaries and monographs on calligraphers, introduction to chronological calligraphy (Category C volume), illustrations of works, textual research and interpretation of works, selected notes on calligraphers' calligraphy, Chronology of calligraphers, schematic diagram of calligraphers' whereabouts, bibliography of main citations, and catalog of plates.
The calligraphers included in the Category A calligrapher volume are relatives and direct disciples of the family, so as to clearly analyze their mutual influence.
Attached chapters include: Chronology of Chinese calligraphy (with index of names and works), a brief history of calligraphy in ethnic minority languages, a brief history of overseas calligraphy, and a brief history of the Four Treasures of the Study.
Several volumes are included in the appendix to classify and include important works that could not be accommodated or omitted during the compilation process.
The schematic maps in each volume of this book are all based on the "Historical Atlas of China" edited by Tan Qixiang.
This book is all typed in traditional Chinese characters to avoid errors in similarities and differences between ancient and modern characters.
