"Selected Papers on Calligraphy of the Past Dynasties" is compiled in the order of the author's birth and death. From the beginning of the Han Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty. Through this sequence, readers can easily understand the development process of Chinese calligraphy. An "Index of Personal Names" is attached at the back of the book for reference.
There are numerous monographs on calligraphy in the past dynasties. This selection is limited to those devoted to calligraphy techniques and calligraphy history. From a stylistic point of view, the focus is on the thesis as a whole, occasionally including high-value inscriptions, postscripts, book chapters and other fragments. According to this principle, I still feel that there is not enough space to select all of them. Articles and poems, poems, formulas, letters, etc. that discuss calligraphers, the four treasures of the study, inscriptions, collections, etc. are not included and will be compiled separately in the future. Some papers in "Selected Papers on Calligraphy of the Past Dynasties", such as the works of Mrs. Wei, Wang Xizhi and others, have long been pointed out as forgeries. However, considering the great influence of these works and their own academic value, they are still Opt in, but indicate it in each person's solution.
