Joined the National Artists Association in the 1970s.
From 1979 to 1998, he served as a lecturer at Beijing Art Normal College and Beijing Art Institute.
From 1999 to 2008, he served as a lecturer, associate professor and professor at the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts.
He is currently the president of Beijing Great Wall Painting and Calligraphy Academy. Wang Jinkai studied Chinese calligraphy under the tutelage of Er Wang in his early years, and was good at running and cursive calligraphy. He has profound traditional skills, a solid and elegant calligraphy style, and has published a large number of calligraphy treatises, which have a wide influence at home and abroad. His artistic attainments in calligraphy are familiar and praised by people in calligraphy circles around the world, and he enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad.
In the past 10 years since 2000, he has been invited to leave more than 50 precious calligraphy works for major hotels such as Zhongnanhai, the Great Hall of the People, Diaoyutai State Guesthouse and Beijing Hotel.
From 2003 to 2008, he visited Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United States many times and held art exhibitions.
