Some calligraphy works are just like children doodling. Why did you say yes?

I feel just like you. For example, there is a famous calligrapher, Honggen Shen, whose pen name is Jiang Niao. His calligraphy gives me the feeling of ugliness.

Although I still can't understand his running script and cursive script, I feel that his calligraphy seems to have the artistic conception of painting, which is written with the mentality of painting, so you don't have to find faults in strokes and shelf structure (because he can't find faults in writing regular script), but look at the overall situation of the whole work.

Personally, I'm just a beginner in calligraphy, so I've been away from cursive writing. I'm just talking about it here for reference only.
