Dai language is the language used by Dai and Thai people, belonging to the East Asian (Sino-Tibetan) language family. About 68 million people in the world use the Dai language, and there are more than1.2000 people in Yunnan, China.
Dai language can be divided into three dialects: Thai dialect (western Yunnan, China, north-central Myanmar, northeastern India and Yefengsong, Thailand), Lanna dialect (southern Yunnan, northeastern Shan State, northern Thailand and northern Vietnam, China) and Siam dialect (south-central Thailand, southern Laos and northwestern Cambodia).
Dai calligraphy
Dai calligraphy is represented by Dai fonts. At first, charcoal pen and white mud pen were used, and later, iron cone pen, fern pen, pen and writing brush were used as performance tools, which had high aesthetic value. In the long-term calligraphy practice, Dai intellectuals have created artistic techniques such as painting, rolling, bending and drifting, and six calligraphy fonts such as "warmer and more beautiful", "more diligent and more elegant", "multi-method", "multi-hemp ring folding" and "multi-south curtain grabbing" have appeared, which are called "multi-method" in Dai language.
