Evidence: He Cun in Putuo, Shandong Province, commonly known as "He Baxiu" village, means that there are eight literati named He in this village. According to the Records of Xiangshan County in the Republic of China, "He Zuyi decided to move here from Haiputo in the late Ming Dynasty". Because of the name "Putuo River". About 300 years ago, from the last years of Kangxi to the early years of Yongzheng, there were only a dozen families in the village. One year, seven scholars in the village went to Yongfu to try books and hired young people from the same village to carry books with them. After seven scholars successfully passed the scholar exam, the examiner was surprised that all the scholars in the same village had such talents, and casually called an underachiever to come up and have a look. As a matter of fact, that young man is very clever, which he has heard from scholars. Read some books when you are free. I have some ink in my stomach. When the examiner saw his photo, he asked a few questions and then went out for the first part. Later generations came out with the second film. The examiner was satisfied and decided to send another scholar's name. Only in this way can the eight Jinshi have a good talk with the Jinshi who try out the Jinshi. Because it is too old, only one of the eight scholars is named "He", and the rest have not been admitted. This is also the reason why his tombstone was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution and only passed down when someone saw it.
Putuo He Cun has also produced a great scholar, whose era is out of step with He Baxiu. This Confucian has been teaching in Kyoto for a long time and has never been an official. At the age of 70, it was not until the Queen Mother's birthday that she seized the opportunity to write a birthday message and spread it to the palace. The emperor was overjoyed after reading it, thinking that this article was rare in the world, so he asked who wrote it, but all the ministers said they didn't know, and sent a message to his temple, telling him that if there was no official seal, there would be an official plus an official, and he would never be an official for a lifetime. The emperor saw that he was 70 years old and had to give him the title of Hanlin. Because it was given by the emperor himself, this Confucian was regarded as a relative of the emperor. According to the legend of the villagers, he traveled with an umbrella and other things. I was an examiner when I was in office, and a pair of used copper columns were also sold and lost by later generations during the Cultural Revolution. After becoming a bachelor of Hanlin, the Confucian scholar returned to his hometown and founded the Hanlin Academy with the scale of 10, but he gave up because of the lack of silver in the province. Only three ancestral halls have been built in front of the village, and the four flagpole stones still standing in the ancestral halls are faintly visible.
This temple was expanded and repaired in the eighth year of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty and after liberation. It has a stage, a nave and two wings. Precious, there are nine pairs of woodcut couplets hanging on the pillars, stage and nave of the ancestral hall, among which the couplet signed by Chen Deshan is Zhai Yishu, which is135cm long and16.5cm wide, and the other eight couplets are105.5cm wide. Look at this handwriting. Nine couplets are all made by one person. According to the investigation, Chen Deshan, No.1 (Yi) Zhai, Sanjiaosheng, etc. Born in the fifth year of Xianfeng (1855) and died in the thirty-fourth year of Guangxu (1908). He is the cousin of the famous historian Mr. Chen Hanzhang. Zhang Han studied poetry when he was young and was often invited. From the comments on Mr. Wang's poems when he was young, we can see that his running script is well written and natural and unrestrained. Now we know from the couplets in the ancestral hall that it is quite vivid in Zhao's pages in the Yuan Dynasty.
It is said that Chen Deshan once asked a scholar from Hebaxiu Village to be his teacher. When the ancestral hall was erected, the scholar was old, so the student Chen Deshan was asked to write in Chinese calligraphy. As for who made the couplets, it is difficult to verify. However, judging from the content, there are some specific references to the common ancestral temple, such as advocating the virtue of ancestors and educating future generations. For example, nave's couplet reads "Celebrities push votes by eight times, sages make teenagers mature", which provides the best evidence for the origin of the village with the common name "He Baciu", and this "teenager" may refer to a scholar.
