Knowledge of couplets

I would like to recommend one to you first:

The garden in front of you, whose village is it?

The few lines of text on the wall, which Chinese book (same word pun) ( (Interesting couplet)

"Zhuangzi" refers to both "Zhuangzhai" and the title of the book "Zhuangzi"; "Hanshu" refers to both "Hanzi's writing" and the title of the book "Hanshu".

Look at the following————:

1.

Wang Xizhi, the great calligrapher of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, loved calligraphy couplets, but every time he posted them, they were stolen by others. Let's go. One New Year's Eve, he came up with a wonderful way to prevent "thieves": he posted this couplet on the door lintel:

Unparalleled blessings come

Misfortune never comes alone

When the people who stole the couplet came to Wang's house and took a look, they all shook their heads and left. In the early morning of the first day of the Lunar New Year, Wang Xizhi added three characters at the end of the upper and lower couplets, creating a masterpiece with full meaning:

Unparalleled blessings have come to this day

Misfortune never comes alone last night

The "ability" of this legend is obviously not credible - because the first couplets did not appear until the fifth generation. But the story is very interesting and the couplets are also artistic and well worth a visit.

2.

Wang Yucheng, a writer in the Northern Song Dynasty, came from a poor family when he was a child. He often helped adults grind noodles after school. When he was 12 years old, a master ordered him to make a couplet with the theme of grinding noodles. Wang Yuchen said:

But take the right heart

No worries now

When the local governor held a banquet, he improvised a sentence to challenge the answer:

A parrot can speak as hard as a phoenix

The guests in the house could not answer the question, and the news spread the next day. After Wang Yuchen knew this, he immediately responded to the following sentence:

Although spiders are not as clever as silkworms

3.

Lu Meng, a native of Song Dynasty, was facing the serious inequality between rich and poor at that time. The phenomenon is indignant. During the Spring Festival one year, a poor man asked him to write a couplet for him. Lu wrote:

Two, three, four, five,

Six, seven, eighty-nine

Horizontal Er: North and South

After the Spring Festival couplets were posted, they attracted countless people to watch. Everyone first thought it was "weird" and then called it "wonderful". The beauty of this Spring Festival couplet lies in its "meaning of connecting with others": the first couplet lacks "one" and the second couplet lacks "ten", which is the homophony of "lack of food and clothing": the horizontal comment of "north and south" means "nothing" ". The author uses unique rhetorical techniques to describe the embarrassment of poor people's existence.

4.

The Song Dynasty poet Yan Shu took a rest in Daming Temple when passing by Yangzhou. He accidentally saw a very good poem written on the wall. After asking, he found out that the author was from the local area. Wang Qi invited the king to have dinner with him. After dinner, the two of them took a walk by the pool. It was the end of spring when everything was falling red. Yan Shu said: "Sometimes I think of a good sentence. For example, I once said this: 'There is no choice but the flowers fall.' "Come out of the second couplet." Wang Qi responded: "It seems like Yan is coming back." Soon, this couplet was written into his poem "Huanxisha? A New Word for a Cup of Wine", and it became an eternal famous line.

5.

Kou Zhun, the famous prime minister of the Northern Song Dynasty, was traveling in the countryside with his friends. He took advantage of the scene and came up with a sentence to ask for answers:

The moon under the water is the moon in the sky

All the friends had no correct answer, but Yang Danian arrived just in time and said to him:

The person you see is the person in front of you

All the friends cheered in unison.

6.

Liu Gong, a native of the Song Dynasty, had a good relationship with his father. Wang Anshi wrote a sentence to test it:

Three generations of Xia, Shang and Zhou

Liu The antithesis:

Four Poems on Elegance

Wang Anshi clapped his hands and applauded: "This is what heaven and earth have created!" The beauty of the couplet is that "Four Poems" summarize the "Ode to Elegance": because " The "elegant" poems in the Book of Songs can be divided into "daya" and "xiaoya", which together with "wind" and "song" form the "four poems".

7.

Mei Yaochen is famous for his poems, but he has been up and down for thirty years and cannot be reused. In his later years, he was invited by Ouyang Xiu to participate in the compilation of "Book of Tang". After completing the manuscript, Mei died of illness before it was submitted to the emperor. The scholar-bureaucrats all lamented. When Mei Yaochen was ordered to compile the "Book of Tang Dynasty" before, he once said to his wife Diao:

My editing of books can also be said to be like a hozen entering a cloth bag

Diao smiled and said:

If you are an official, how is it different from a catfish on a bamboo pole?

Although it is a daily conversation between husband and wife, it forms a natural connection, and everyone who hears it says it is a good couple.

8.

Su Shi (named Dongpo) and Huang Tingjian were playing chess under a pine tree. A gust of wind blew and the pine nuts fell off the chessboard. Dongpo immediately said:

Panasonic Go, the pine pieces fall with the chess pieces every time

Huang Tingjian said:

When fishing by the willow, the willow silk is often hung with the fishing line

9.

Su Shi has always been proud of his talent. Prime Minister Wang Anshi valued Su's talent and learning, but felt that his arrogance should be killed. One year, the first month and the twelfth month both had the beginning of spring, and August was a leap month. Wang Anshi took this as his title Su Shi was asked to answer the first couplet correctly:

One year, two springs and two months of August, there are two springs and autumns in the world

Su Shi thought hard for many days, but finally could not answer it. It was not until hundreds of years later that an unknown person reluctantly wrote the second couplet (wide pair):

Sixty-sixty-year-olds will be around again, and they will meet again in the world

10.

< p>One day, Su Dongpo invited Huang Tingjian to his home as a guest. When Huang arrived at the door, Su hurriedly went out to greet him, and the two started chatting under the willow tree next to the door. Su Xiaomei, who was catching lice in front of the window, saw this scene and jokingly said:

Brother invites Shuangyue outside the door

Su Dongpo smiled and said:

Little sister Catching Banfeng in front of the window

Note: "Shuangyue" refers to "friend", and "Banfeng" ("wind" in traditional Chinese is "风") refers to "lice".

11.

One evening, Su Dongpo said to Su Xiaomei: "I am going to write the first couplet, and please spend a night working on the second couplet." Then he said:

The water fairy holds a jade hairpin and blows slowly in front of the wind

Su Xiaomei thought hard for a long time and couldn't answer it. Because "Water Fairy", "Jasper Hairpin" and "Slow Sound" are all Ci Pai names, the second line must also match the Ci Pai name, and at the same time, it must describe a scene, which is indeed very difficult. While she was searching her intestines and scraping her belly, she suddenly saw the maid bringing wine and food under the moonlight. Su Xiaomei had an idea and wrote the second couplet:

The poppy wears red embroidered shoes, and the moonlight attracts Bu Bujiao

Note: "Yu Meiren", "Red Embroidered Shoes" and "Bu Bu Jiao" are also the names of Ci brand names.

12.

When Su Dongpo was in Hangzhou, he often went out to enjoy the mountains and rivers. One day when he was traveling to Mo Qianshan in casual clothes, he came to the temple to take a rest. Seeing his simple clothes, the old Taoist priest in the temple regarded him as an ordinary tourist and said indifferently: "Sit down!" and shouted to the Taoist boy: " Tea!" During the conversation, the Taoist noticed that the visitor was quite knowledgeable, so he invited him into the side room to talk, and said: "Please sit down!" He also called to the Taoist boy: "Tea!" When he finally learned that the visitor was Su Dongpo, he The Taoist priest repeatedly bowed to him and invited him to the living room to "sit down!". Entering the living room, the Taoist bowed and said: "Please take a seat!" He also ordered the Taoist boy: "Honor the fragrant tea!" When leaving, the Taoist repeatedly asked Dongpo to leave his "calligraphy treasure". Dongpo smiled and wrote a couplet:

Sit down, please sit down, please sit down

Tea, tea, tea

After reading, Ashamed.

13.

The monks Foyin and Su Dongpo of Jinshan Temple have always been friendly, and they often joke with each other when they meet. One evening, the two of them were boating on the Yangtze River. The boat was light and the wind was gentle, and they drank wine against the moon. They were very happy. After drinking for three rounds, Foyin asked Dongpo for a sentence. Dongpo pointed to the river bank and smiled without saying a word. Foyin went as expected, only to see a farmer on the bank returning to the village with a hoe, and behind him a yellow dog was walking and gnawing on a remaining bone. Foyin suddenly realized Dongpo's meaning, laughed, and threw a big cattail leaf fan with Dongpo's poems in his hand into the water. The two kept their intentions to each other secret, looking at each other and smiling. It turns out that the two of them used "body language" to create an exquisite and humorous pun "dumb couplet":

The dog gnawed the (monk) bone on the river (Dongpo's sentence)

The water flow Dongpo's poem (Corpse) (Couple of Buddha's seal)

14.

One day, Foyin was talking about Buddhism to Dongpo. Su Xiaomei, who was lying behind the curtain, saw the Buddha's seal. The Buddhist teachings were so miraculous that I really wanted to "silence" the monk, so I wrote a couplet and asked the maid to take it out and give it to Su Dongpo. Dongpo took it and laughed loudly when he saw it. The first couplet read:

A man was once a monk, but he cannot become a Buddha

Dongpo handed the first couplet to the Buddha's seal, and the Buddha Yin thought for a moment and then came up with the second couplet:

A woman is humbled as a maid, but a woman can also be called a slave

This is a "word analysis couplet", which is very clever.

15.

It is said that Liang Hao (Yi Zuohao) of the Song Dynasty failed the exam many times, but he still did not give up and studied hard, and finally won the first prize at the age of 82. In his letter of thanks to the emperor, Liang Hao attached a very humorous couplet:

The white head is poor, and the young man is eight years old

The Qingyun is lucky, and the Taigong Er is the best. Year

This couplet uses two historical allusions: Fu Sheng, who taught "Shang Shu" in the Han Dynasty, was 90 years old when he became famous, and Jiang Shang (Tai Gong) was eighty years old when he assisted King Wen of Zhou. The author uses this to express his feelings of success in his old age, which is very appropriate.

16.

Hong Pingzhai from the Song Dynasty liked to use the word "just" in his articles. One year, he wrote a letter to the emperor to impeach the prime minister of the dynasty for abusing power and accepting bribes. The memorial contained this sentence: "Exerting power and accepting bribes is just relying on the power of the situation." As a result, not only failed to "overthrow" the prime minister, but he was hated by the prime minister. It sat idle for ten years. Hong Pingzhai was so angry that he wrote a couplet on his door:

I didn’t get the word "zhihu"

Only because I had been idle for ten years

17.

The Southern Song Dynasty poets You Miao and Yang Wanli had a friendly relationship. During the Chunxi period, Yang served as Secretary Supervisor, especially Taichang Qing, who often lowered his head but did not raise his head to see him. The two have humorous personalities and like to joke with each other. When they met one time, You said to Yang: I am using a sutra sentence as the first couplet and ask you to write the second couplet

Yang is for me

Yang Wanli responded:

< p>Youwu Yiren

"Yang is for me" and "Youwu Yiren" are both complete sentences in the pre-Qin classics. The two poets skillfully introduced them into couplets, and "You" and "Yang" "They are also their surnames respectively. Such couplets really need to be learned to "be at the bottom".

18.

It is said that Zhu Yuanzhang, the founder of the Ming Dynasty, visited Mayuan, and Zhu Di (his fourth son) and Zhu Yunwen (his eldest grandson) served together. Taizu issued a sentence to say:

The wind blows a thousand threads from the horse's tail

Zhu Yunwen said:

The rain sprinkles a piece of wool felt

Taizu thought it was "weak". Zhu Di said to him:

The sun shines like a dragon's scales with thousands of gold points

The latter pair of sentences is much more powerful than the previous one. Later, Zhu Di replaced Zhu Yunwen on the throne and moved the capital from Nanjing to Beijing. Perhaps the "Ma Yuan response" incident has shown that the emperor's grandson is no match for the prince.

19.

Ming Dynasty Xu Xi started his career as an official when he was young. When he returned to his hometown, the local officials led the students to greet him in the suburbs. Since the students were not from different subjects, they were a little disrespectful. The local officials were very angry and scolded the students:

Break the pomegranate. , there are many sour people in the Red Gate

"Sour people" are mocking the sour scholars present. Zhusheng can't be right for a long time. Xu Xi replied:

Bite open the ginkgo, and there is an adult in white clothes

Everyone was shocked and asked for forgiveness

20.

In the Ming Dynasty, Gao Zecheng rarely lost his talent and was known as a "child prodigy". One day when he was seven years old, Gao Zecheng returned home from school wearing a green robe. On the way, he met a neighbor who was an official and minister. The minister said to him:

The frogs wearing green coats out of the water, with beautiful eyes looking forward to it

Zhen Zheng saw the minister wearing a red robe, and immediately replied:

It is a child who has fallen into the water. Wearing a red robe and bowing like a bow

After hearing this, the minister repeatedly exclaimed, "The descendants are to be feared." "Beautiful eyes are looking forward to the future" and "Bow down like a leaf" are classic sentences in the "Book of Songs" and "The Analects of Confucius" respectively. It does require knowledge and talent to be able to quickly quote them in response to the situation.

21.

Famous officials in the Ming Dynasty were extremely intelligent when they were young. When a monk saw Yu Qian with his hair in a double bun, he joked:

The bull's head is so happy to have dragon horns

Yu Yu Qian replied:

Dog Never spit out ivory from his mouth

When he got older, Yu Qian wore his hair in a three-way bun. When the monk saw him, he made another couplet:

The triangle is like a drum frame

Yu Qian shot back:

As bald as a hammer

22.

The Ming Dynasty scholar Jie Jin was good at antiphonal sentences when he was young. When he was nine years old, his father took him to the Yangtze River to bathe. The father and son took off their clothes and hung them on an old tree by the river.

The father immediately said:

Thousand-year-old trees are used as clothes hangers

Xie Jin then said:

The thousands of miles of Yangtze River are used as bathtubs

23.

One day, Xie Jin’s father played chess with a friend. Before the game started, the friend chanted:

The stars on the chessboard are made by heaven, who dares to play

< p>Jie's father was speechless for a moment, and Jie Jin, who was standing by, came to his rescue:

The ground is the pipa and the roads are the strings, who can play it

24.

There is a bamboo mountain in front of the village where Xie Jin lives, which is owned by a squire in the same village. One year during the Spring Festival, Xie Jin posted a couplet on his door:

Across the door are thousands of bamboos

The family has thousands of books

The squire met I was very unhappy and ordered my servants to cut off all the bamboo shoots. Jin knew the squire's intention, so he added a word at the end of each couplet:

The door is opposite a thousand bamboo trees

The family has thousands of volumes of books

The squire met Even more annoyed, he ordered his servants to dig up the bamboo roots. After Jin heard about it, he added another word at the end of the couplet:

The door is facing a thousand bamboos and there are no bamboos

The family treasure Ten Thousand Volumes of Books Are Long

The squire had no choice but to sulk on his own.

25.

A scholar was dissatisfied with Jie Jin’s talent, found Jie Jin, and plausibly said a "good match":

The ox is running and the donkey is running. But a horse

A chicken can fly harder than an eagle

Xie Jin was very disgusted with such shallow people, so he smiled and said to the scholar: "I will also give a gift to Mr. Vice couplet. "

Reeds on the wall, top-heavy and shallow-rooted

Bamboo shoots in the mountains, thick skin and hollow belly

26,

Cheng Minzheng in the Ming Dynasty was extremely talented and was recommended to Beijing when he was more than ten years old. Prime Minister Li Xian wanted to recruit him as his son-in-law, so he pointed at the fruit on the table at a banquet and said to Cheng:

Because of the lotus (he), I got the lotus root (even)

Cheng understood Li thought about it and replied:

There is apricot (lucky) and no plum blossom (matchmaker)

Li then decided to betroth his daughter to Cheng.

27.

Li Dongyang in the Ming Dynasty was as talented as Cheng Minzheng. When Dongyang was 6 years old, he went with Minzheng to accept Yingzong's summons. When passing the palace gate, the young Dongyang could not cross the high threshold. Upon seeing this, Yingzong said:

The scholar has short legs

Dongyang responded:

The emperor's family was high

When he was giving the imperial meal, Yingzong pointed to the crab on the plate and said:

The crab is covered in armor

Minzheng said to him:

< p>Phoenix Mantei Articles

Dongyang Duyue:

Spider Man Belly Sutra

Yingzong published another first couplet:

Peng Yi Flying high, overcoming the wind and clouds for thousands of miles

Minzheng is right:

The leader is the only one, following the sun and the moon in the sky

Dongyang is right:

The dragon's face is arched, standing between heaven and earth

Yingzong Dayue said to his left and right: "In the future, let one of them be the prime minister and the other a bachelor of the Imperial Academy."

Wang Hong was a talented scholar from central Fujian in the Ming Dynasty. He was good at dating when he was young. One day, a guest came to the door and saw that the Wang family was building a building in the courtyard. He asked Wang Hong to answer the couplet:

There are buildings above the ground floor, but there is no ground between the buildings.

Wang Hong Seeing a group of hired workers digging a well in the courtyard, they said to him:

Dig a well in the courtyard, and there is sky at the bottom of the well

29.

Ming Dynasty Cao Zong When he was 7 years old, he went to the beach to play, and a fisherman came up with a couplet on the subject of the sand horse:

The sand horse drills into the sand hole, and the sand grows its eyes

Cao Zong raised his eyes and saw what was close. There was a buffalo bathing there, and he said to him:

The buffalo eats water and grass, and its head is soaked in water

The fisherman was very happy, so he gave Cao Zong a big fish as a gift.

30.

The Ming Dynasty Lu Rong was appointed as the chief envoy of Zhejiang and was friendly to Professor Chen Zhen. During a drinking session at a party, the two of them started to play with each other.

Chen Zhen was bald in his youth, and Lu Rong mocked him:

Professor Chen had several stems of hair, but there was nothing he could do about it

Lu Rong had a beard, Chen Zhen seized on this feature and retorted:

Lords from Mainland China are covered with mustaches, why should they be like this?

The beauty of this pairing lies in the second half of each sentence: in the Zhejiang dialect, it is difficult to distinguish between "stem" and "怉" , "Shi" and "comb" are indistinguishable, and "He" and "Hu" are similar, so "numbering stems of hair" is homophonic to "counting combs of hair", and "no hair to comb" is homophonic to "cannot comb". "Why is it so" is also "the beard is like this". Lu Rong then made another sentence on the topic of apes cutting wood:

Two apes cutting wood in the mountain, the monkeys can also saw each other (sentence)

Chen Zhen responded and said:

p>

A horse is stuck in the mud, how can this animal get out of its hoofs (question)

After the confrontation, the two of them held hands and laughed. This attribute pair also uses the pun homophonic technique very cleverly, and it is more understandable than the previous pair. However, this kind of "over the top" joke is only suitable among close friends.
