Chen Xiejun, director of Shanghai Museum, was born in Shanghai in July 1952. He started working in 1968 and joined the Communist Party of China in August 1971. Graduated from Huangpu District Amateur University with a bachelor's degree in radio major, and studied for a doctoral degree in the Department of Philosophy of Washington University in St. Louis, USA.
