Beiyuan is actually on the east bank of Jianxi River in northern Fujian today, which is Dongfeng Town in Jian 'ou, Fujian. Jian 'ou, known as Jian 'an and Jianzhou in ancient times, was the earliest government in Fujian. Today, the name "Fujian" comes from Fuzhou and Jianzhou. This place in Jianzhou has a long history of tea production and excellent quality. It was very famous in the Tang Dynasty. Lu Yu praised Jianzhou tea in the Book of Tea Classic as "always available, and its taste is excellent." During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, Jianzhou dedicated the tea garden around the East Phoenix Mountain to the king of Fujian, and became the official tea garden in Fujian at that time. Because the tea garden is located in the north of Fujian, it is named Beiyuan Imperial Tea Garden. After the establishment of the Song Dynasty, it inherited the previous tribute tea system. In Song Taizong, the official baked tea was set up in Beiyuan Royal Tea Garden, and Beiyuan tribute tea has opened a glorious ruling history. When he arrived in Song Renzong, the great calligrapher Cai Xiang was appointed as the transshipment ambassador of Fujian. He is a tea fan. When he was in office, he greatly improved the quality of Beiyuan tribute tea, making it more exquisite and expensive than before.
