One day, Mrs. Wei disguised herself as Guanyin Mother and went to the market to sell cakes. She
made cakes differently from others. She put the chopping board in front of her face and baked the cakes. Putting it behind his back, he rolled out a cake and threw it behind him, where it landed right in the pan. The onlookers were filled with laughter and admiration. After a while, Wang Xizhi also came to watch. When he saw the excitement, he couldn't help but blurt out that this craft was wonderful. When Mrs. Wei heard that it was Wang Xizhi's voice, she said, "This is not as good as Wang Xizhi's handwriting." Wang Xizhi thought it was the gods who enlightened him, and he was happy, but he also thought that the skill of the Guanyin Mother in making pancakes was indeed too high, and his handwriting could not compare with hers. So I secretly made up my mind to practice making pancakes as good as Guanyin Mother. From then on, he studied hard with Mrs. Wei for another year, said goodbye to his teacher, and went into the society. He integrated the expertise of celebrities and refined skills into his own school, and eventually became a calligraphy master of his generation. Wang Xizhi, a famous calligrapher in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, had a calligraphy teacher named Wei Shuo. She was a very famous female calligrapher. People called her Mrs. Wei.
Wang Xizhi began to learn calligraphy when he was 7 years old. Mrs. Wei liked his intelligence very much. Once, Wang Xizhi asked Mrs. Wei: "Teacher, how can I practice calligraphy as quickly as possible?"
Mrs. Wei saw Wang Xizhi's anxious look, which was both cute and ridiculous, so she said: "My child, Don't be too impatient, let me tell you a story about Mo Chi first! It was in the Eastern Han Dynasty. There was a man named Zhang Zhi. In order to practice his calligraphy, he would dip in Mo Chi at the pond in front of his house every day. He studied ink and practiced calligraphy in the pond water from the time the sun came up until the sun set. After writing the calligraphy, he washed his pen and inkstone in the pond. As time went by, the ink washed out dyed the entire pond black. Later, he The more he practiced his handwriting, the better he got, and his cursive writing was lively, smooth, and full of variety. Everyone respectfully called him the 'Grass Saint'."
Wang Xizhi listened to Mrs. Wei's story about Zhang Zhi in his heart. I was thinking: In order to practice calligraphy well, Zhang Zhi washed his pen and inkstone with water that turned the pond black. How much effort he put in! If I work as hard as Zhang Zhi, I will definitely be able to practice calligraphy well.
From then on, under the specific guidance of Mrs. Wei, Wang Xizhi practiced calligraphy harder. Like Zhang Zhi, he would go to the pond in front of his house to wash his pen and inkstone after practicing calligraphy every day. As time passed, the pond that was once as clear as a mirror turned into an ink pond.
Later, whenever Wang Xizhi moved, he would wash his pens and inkstones in the pool in front of his door. It is said that he left more ink pools than Zhang Zhi. Zeng Gong, a writer in the Northern Song Dynasty, admired Wang Xizhi's hard work and wrote an article "The Story of Mochi" to praise Wang Xizhi.
Mrs. Wei taught Wang Xizhi calligraphy, and also taught him that there is heaven outside the world and there are people outside the world, so he should not be arrogant and lazy. Therefore, Wang Xizhi later studied Zhang Zhi's cursive script and Zhong Yao's regular script, but he felt that it was not enough. He determined to read widely, learn from more calligraphers, and learn all their strengths.
Later, Wang Xizhi grew up and served as an official in Wuchang, Jiujiang and other places. Everywhere Wang Xizhi went, he always remembered Mrs. Wei's teachings and looked at the inscriptions and inscriptions left by his predecessors. He would copy them carefully and take them out to read whenever he had time. He would carefully ponder and understand the characteristics and carefully read them. Realize the truth.
After Wang Xizhi saw the handwriting, he became obsessed with calligraphy practice. On the way or when he sat down, he did not forget to figure out the structure, momentum and writing method of the calligraphy. While he was thinking, he used his fingers to scratch his body horizontally and vertically. As time went by, even the skirt of his clothes was scratched.
Wang Xizhi's son Wang Xianzhi asked him why, and he said to his son: "You will lose your body in the future!"
Wang Xizhi continued to practice hard, and his wrists became very powerful , and he is also very powerful when using his pen. He often thought in his mind: According to Mrs. Wei's teachings, only by combining the strengths of hundreds of schools of thought can we achieve innovation.
