Thoughts on reading the preface of Mr. Sun Chi's calligraphy and painting exhibition commemorative album

Mr. Sun Chi wrote a short note entitled "Thinking Caused by a Painting in the Bedroom", which refers to an ink-wash light-colored landscape painting by Mr. Luo Furong.

Mr. Luo Furong graduated from Xi 'an Fine Arts College in his early years. He is good at Chinese painting, landscape freehand brushwork, meticulous figure and so on, and has created many exquisite works. The famous Freehand Scroll of the Restoration of the Eighteen Tombs of the Tang Dynasty and Story Map of the Battle of Six Armies in Zhaoling were recruited by the Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau to participate in the World Tour Exhibition of Unearthed Cultural Relics in Shaanxi Province, and exhibited in Japan, South Korea, the United States, Europe, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Taiwan Province and other countries or regions. After liberation, Mr. Sun Chi and Mr. Luo Furong got to know each other. At first, they both worked in the county cultural center. Later, they were criticized together, entered the cadre school, went to the countryside to work, transferred Zhaoling to excavate the buried tomb, set up a cultural management office, studied Zhaoling cultural relics and established Zhaoling Museum. After retirement, we devoted ourselves to the popularization of calligraphy and painting in Liquan and the cultivation of talents. We have worked together for more than 5 years, never blushing or knotting. In his room, Mr. Luo Furong hung an ink and wash pastel landscape painting, which was objectively praised by the visiting guests. In addition to praise, some details made him think, so he wrote this little note, with more than 4 words. The article said:

I have a friend who is over the age of ancient times, and has never talked about others in his life, nor is he proud of himself. Although it is a wonderful hand of Dan Qing, it is still poor and lonely. In my living room, he hung a pair of pale ink landscape paintings, and many guests from other places were amazed. But when they asked about the artist's work, I told the painter's name and shook my head again and again and said, "I haven't heard of it." So, "Wang Gu talked about him from left to right," and also dismissed the painting.

This old friend of mine, after knowing this situation, laughed it off, but still refused to actively participate in those "grand prix" and other activities. For several years, he still painted in silence. I can't figure out whether his initial attitude is a strength or a weakness. If it is a traditional virtue, it seems too inappropriate; If you say that you are not good at self-promotion, you seem to admit that those calligraphers and painters are correct. In my confusion, I gradually wondered if the world was a little distorted. At present, calligraphy and painting works are accepted by people, but there are still too few people who really understand the art of calligraphy and painting. Most people only listen to fame, but they are famous. People are not necessarily people with high artistic level of painting and calligraphy, but people with high artistic level of painting and calligraphy are not necessarily famous. There are not three or two folk artists like my old friend, but quite a large number. Unfortunately, the social atmosphere and news media have not realized this distorted phenomenon.

In fact, Mr. Sun Chi is also such a person. He has been poor and lonely all his life, never boasting about others, never boasting about his own strengths, never deliberately seeking his fame, never greedy for money and things, never painting in obscurity, and never tirelessly educating new people. He is not good at hype, not to mention fawning on others, and rarely participates in exhibitions such as "Grand Prix" and "Masterpieces Exhibition", let alone. Mr. Wang also won some honors and prizes in painting and calligraphy exhibitions before his death, but most of them were "invited" to participate. Some cultures or collection units collect his works, and they also admire "meeting". His calligraphy works or calligraphy research articles published in People's China, Cultural Relics, Archaeology, Calligraphy, Calligraphy Research and Japanese newspapers and magazines are mostly "manuscripts". A large number of calligraphy works and poems written in calligraphy are scattered in the halls and bedrooms of ordinary people in his hometown and hung in municipal and county organs, which can really be described as "collecting books from the people". Looking back at Mr. Sun Chi's paintings and calligraphy works, they can all be called excellent. Little known because of little publicity. However, Mr. Wang looked beyond the mundane life and enjoyed a dull life. He wrote a poem "Praise of the Cow": "Forget the ups and downs, and be shocked by this old illness. Indulge in poetry, calligraphy and painting, and talk about comforting the emotional soul. Seek truth, goodness and beauty, and cultivate spirit. If you don't pray for fame and fortune, you are innocent of heaven and earth. " He said so, and did so. Although he was too far away from "fame and fortune", he really achieved "a man without a conscience".

In order to make up for Mr. Sun Chi's lack of publicity in painting and calligraphy during his lifetime, we have compiled the past information about Mr. Sun Chi's painting and calligraphy exhibition into a book for calligraphy and painting lovers to circulate among themselves, as a souvenir.
