I have been practicing calligraphy for some time, but I still can't write well with a new brush. Why?

When practicing calligraphy, you may face some writing difficulties after switching to writing brush. This may be due to the following reasons:

1. Unfamiliar writing tools: There are significant differences between writing tools with brush and hard pen. Brush strokes are soft, which requires a greater degree of pen lifting to complete the writing process. The tip of the hard pen is relatively hard, so the lifting action is very small. If you are not familiar with the characteristics of the brush and have insufficient pen control ability, you may not be able to master the correct writing method of the brush.

2. Different brush strokes: The brush strokes and skills of hard pen and brush are very different. Hard pen strokes are usually thinner, while brush strokes are thicker. If you don't adjust your skills and habits when you switch brushes, it will be difficult to adapt.

3. Insufficient practice: Writing brush strokes needs to be re-adapted and practiced. If you have been using a hard pen before, you may feel unfamiliar when using a brush. Only through constant practice can we find our feelings again and write better brush strokes.

4. Mentality adjustment: Using different writing tools may require you to change some mentality and habits. Don't give up because of temporary frustration, but have patience and perseverance to adapt to new tools and skills.

Faced with the difficulties brought by changing writing tools, we can take the above reasons to adjust ourselves and overcome them. At the same time, you can also seek professional calligraphy guidance and improve your calligraphy skills and level through the help of teachers.
