After graduating from high school in 1973, he returned to his hometown and worked successively as a substitute teacher and a statistician in the management district.
In 1975, he entered the Chinese Department of Liaocheng Branch of Shandong Normal University to study. While in school, he served as vice chairman and chairman of the student union of the college.
During college, I gained a lot of knowledge and never stopped visiting the pond. I once saw that Mr. Yu had double-checked a copy of "He Shaoji's Visit to Zhang Qian's Monument", which was meticulous and showed his diligence.
Graduated from the Chinese Department of Shandong Normal University, Liaocheng Branch in 1978, and stayed at the school to teach and concurrently served as deputy secretary of the school youth league committee. During this period, he participated in many national college calligraphy teacher workshops. Later, he was rewarded by Mr. Qi Gong and formed an indissoluble bond with calligraphy education. He also received advice from Shandong calligraphers Jiang Weisong and Wei Qihou. He benefited a lot and his calligraphy skills improved day by day.
In 1983, Mr. Yu Maoyang, who was only 28 years old, became the only teacher in the country who was promoted to associate professor with a non-major (calligraphy).
In 1987, he served as Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the school. While serving as Secretary of the Youth League Committee, he was elected as a representative of the 12th Congress of the Communist Youth League of China.
In 1991, he went to Japan with a national delegation to investigate the current situation of calligraphy education. After returning to China, Mr. Yu discovered through research that the current calligraphy teaching methods in China are mostly based on the ancient private school-style education. Calligraphy teachers are either part-time or employed, and most of them have not received calligraphy class education. We are deeply aware of the potential crisis and urgency of Chinese calligraphy education, and realize that the root of calligraphy education is not to hold competitions or carve steles, but to establish a calligraphy education system. Only when a large number of qualified calligraphy teachers emerge can a virtuous cycle of calligraphy education be formed and the art of calligraphy develop healthily. But who will be responsible for establishing the calligraphy education system has become a lingering concern for Mr. Yu day and night.
In 1992, Mr. Yu was planning to establish the "Calligraphy Education Major" at Liaocheng Normal University.
In 1993, the application process for the establishment of "Calligraphy Education Major" was launched.
In 1994, the "Calligraphy Education Major", the only one among colleges and universities nationwide with the purpose of cultivating calligraphy teachers, was established in Liaocheng Normal University with the approval of the Shandong Provincial Education Commission, and he served as the director of the Fine Arts Department of Liaocheng Normal University.
In 1995, it pioneered the first calligraphy education major in China, and gradually formed a teaching and research system of undergraduate calligraphy, master's degree in calligraphy, and calligraphy art research institute. That year, the "Calligraphy Education Major" successfully enrolled its first class of students from Shandong Province.
In May 1996, Mr. Yu Maoyang was elected as the director of the Calligraphy Education Committee of Shandong Colleges and Universities.
In November 1996, he went to Michigan State University in the United States to teach Chinese calligraphy and hold a personal book exhibition.
In 1997, he served as deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Liaocheng University and concurrently as secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission.
In 1998, he was named a professor of calligraphy at Liaocheng University and elected as a member of the Standing Committee of the Shandong Provincial Youth Federation. In that year, he published the monograph "History of Chinese Calligraphy in the 20th Century" (Henan Fine Arts Publishing House).
In 1999, he was added as the vice chairman of the third presidium of Shandong Calligraphers Association.
In 2000, "Collection of Yu Maoyang's Calligraphy Works" was published (Huanghe Publishing House).
In 2001, he won the second prize of the Shandong Province Teaching Research Achievement Award; and was hired as a postgraduate tutor for the calligraphy major of Liaocheng University.
In January 2003, he was transferred to Secretary of the Party Committee of Shandong University of Arts and Crafts. At that time, he led the party committee and administrative team to organize the construction of the Changqing Campus of Shandong Institute of Arts and Crafts through scientific demonstrations and on-site inspections, solving the "bottleneck" that restricted the further development of the school.
In March 2003, the country's first "Calligraphy and Decoration Art Major" was established at Shandong Institute of Arts and Crafts, which combines calligraphy art with modern decoration and uses modern technology to graft traditional calligraphy art into different The application of materials and carriers makes traditional calligraphy not only a solitary admiration for literati, but also gradually moving towards modern life.
In April 2004, he served as Vice Chairman of the Fourth Presidium of Shandong Calligraphers Association and Director of the Education Committee.
In November 2004, he was employed by Xu Beihong Art College of Renmin University of China A tutor for postgraduate students majoring in calligraphy.
In January 2006, he was elected chairman of Shandong University Calligraphy Association.
In April 2006, he was elected as a member of the Education Committee of the Chinese Calligraphers Association.
In October 2009, he initiated the establishment of the "Nine Five Book Club".
On February 7, 2010, "Jiuwu Book Club" was officially established. As the initiator, Mr. Yu Maoyang thanked all the guests on the spot. The main guests included Xie Heping, alternate member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and president of Sichuan University, Shao Bingren, vice chairman of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, and Bai Xu, deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Calligraphers Association. Jia Shaoyong, Propaganda Minister of the Liaocheng Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Xu Chunfu, Organization Minister. The opening ceremony and seminar were held in the morning.
