Lushan Temple is adjacent to Qingfeng Gorge on the left, drinking Baihequan on the right, overlooking Feng Dan in Hexi, with fragrant willows on Long Island in front, backed by the wind and cloud in northern Henan, and deep mountains and dense forests. It is a great blessing in life to recite and give lectures in this beautiful place. Li Fachong is well versed in Confucian classics, especially The Beijing Classic.
Soon, Li Fachong's reputation spread far and wide, so that "Dongou literati competed." When he and Kong Chunzhi, a famous hermit in Luxian County, bid farewell to each other in Yuelu Mountain, they wrote a poem: "The lofty spirit is still in my heart, and the people in the mountains are gone forever."
Since the worship of Li Fa, the wind of giving lectures in Lushan Mountain has continued. After Zhu Fachong, the founder of the mountain, there were other eminent monks who lived in Xilushan Temple in the Jin Dynasty, such as Fa Dao and Fa Cheng. In 28 1 year, Taoist priests came to Lushan to "make meritorious deeds" and repaired and expanded the temple.
Since the Jin Dynasty, literati have been living in seclusion and studying, and they all like to choose Lushan Temple, which adds a lot of poetry to it. Tao Kan, a famous scholar in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, was born in poverty. He started as a county magistrate and later became a county magistrate. Yongjia five years (3 1 1 year) served as Wuchang satrap. 3 13 years, served as Jingjiang secretariat. When Tao Kan was stationed in Changsha, he often visited Yuelu Mountain in his spare time and built temples in the mountain to study and cultivate his temperament. Because there are fir trees in front of the temple, people call it "fir tree temple". It is said that Tao Kan shot pythons and monsters in Yuelu Mountain. He obeyed the last wish of girl Baihe and made an appointment to meet again after 50 years. Later, Tao Kan, who was over eighty years old, postponed his appointment because of government affairs.
In order to fulfill his promise, Tao Kan waited for 998 1 day at the meeting place, and finally he met the girl with the crane. Bodhisattva told Tao Kan to leave Shimen in order not to make the girl homesick again. Tao Kan was forced to walk through the stone. When the girl turned, she saw a stone wall standing in front of her. So a stone slope was left in Yuelu Mountain.
In the Sui Dynasty, Ming Shi, the founder of Tiantai Sect, first became a monk in Kunyuan Temple in Changsha. He took it as his duty to teach Hokkekyo, and set up a deer garden in Lushan Temple to give lectures, teaching the "first meaning" of "don't take it for yourself, don't attach it to inaction" and "the highest fault", and preaching Buddhist thoughts such as "the heart is the foundation of all laws".
Luyuan was later converted into a lecture hall and became an important place for lectures in Lushan Temple, which was handed down from generation to generation. In the Tang Dynasty, Master Mahayana became the abbot of Lushan Temple, and he began to teach Nanzong Zen in Luyuan. Later, he spread Zen to Tibet, debated with Indian monks in Lhasa, and spread the Buddhist style of study in Lushan Temple to Tibet and India.
During this period, Daolin Temple in Yuelu Mountain was also changed into a law school. In the early Tang Dynasty, calligraphers wrote four characters "Daolin Temple" and praised the forest as "the forest of Daolin". In the later Tang Dynasty, Ma Yin rebuilt Daolin Temple, with a tall structure and long corridors. At its peak, there were more than 300 monks in the temple. Ma Sui, a famous scholar in the Tang Dynasty, built this Taoist temple as a place for the activities of the scribes. At that time, some people praised Lin Jingshe as an "academy" because it was a secluded place to study, so it was an active position of Confucianism.
Ma Sui is beautifully written, which records that his grandfather and father Ma held important positions in Wu Zetian and Xuanzong respectively. Ma Sui was alert since he was a child, and he was widely involved in group books, especially good at military tactics and ambitious. When he was reading with his brothers, he hid the book and sighed, "There are things in the world. A gentleman should make contributions and help the world. How can he be a Confucian! "
Although Ma Sui was a military commander, he did not forget to do something for a bachelor of arts, so he built a Taoist temple.
In the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, two monks, Zhixuan and others, were "the way of Confucianism". They cut land and built houses under Lushan Temple to build a "lay house", and the Yuelu Academy was born on the basis of running a school in Zhixuan.
