Virtuous brushwork

It depends on what the purpose of learning calligraphy is.

If you are a student, that is, to write well, practice hard pen first, because hard pen calligraphy is relatively more practical, because hard pen is basically used now, so it is usually used more; Hard-pen calligraphy is also relatively easy, whether it is holding a pen posture or lifting a pen, it is almost the same as usual. You just need to learn the structure and font characteristics of words, and practice more at ordinary times.

If it is a hobby, it is better to practice soft pen. Although soft pen calligraphy is rarely used in practice, students do not practice it frequently and need high self-control. The problem of only holding a pen is different from that in peacetime, and it takes some time to get used to it. In addition, the tip of the brush is soft, so you need to pay attention when carrying it. Therefore, it takes a lot of time and energy to exercise self-control and temper.
