Introduction to Gu Zhenle

Gu Zhenle, courtesy name Xinmou and Lezhai, was born in June 1915 in Jiading, Shanghai. When he was young, he learned calligraphy, painting, and seal cutting from Tong Xinlu, Zhai Shuyi and other seniors. In 1942, he became a disciple of Zhang Shiyuan and entered the Yushan School of Painting to specialize in painting. His works have participated in many domestic and foreign calligraphy and painting exhibitions and been published in professional newspapers and periodicals, and have been collected by many museums and memorial halls. He once traveled to Fusang twice to hold calligraphy and painting exhibitions. Published include "Gu Zhenle's Calligraphy and Painting Collection", "Gu Zhenle's Painting Collection", etc. He is currently a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, a member of the Xiling Seal Society, a librarian of the Shanghai Literature and History Research Institute, a director of the Shanghai College Calligraphy Education Research Association, and an editorial board member of the "Chinese Calligraphy and Seal Engraving Canon" of East China Normal University.
