Source: Chapter 44 of Lao Zi's Tao Te Ching.
Who is the name and body? Which is more important, health or goods? What kind of disease is acquisition or death? If you love it very much, you will pay a lot, but if you hide it too much, you will die. Therefore, contentment is not shameful, and knowing that it is not dangerous can last long.
Translation:
Which is kinder, fame or life? Which is more valuable, life or profit? Which is more harmful, gain or loss? If you love fame and fortune too much, you will inevitably pay more; If you accumulate too much wealth, you will certainly suffer even greater losses. Therefore, if you know how to be content, you will not be humiliated; If you know enough is enough, you will not be in danger; Only in this way can we maintain long-term peace.
