Tips for writing poetry:

1. Pay attention to the rhyme of ancient poems

Ancient poems can be rhymed with both flat tones and rhymes. Rhymes with oblique tones. Among oblique rhymes, we also need to distinguish between upper rhymes, lower rhymes, and lower rhymes; generally speaking, different tones cannot rhyme. The rhyme used in ancient poetry is slightly wider than that in rhythmic poetry; one rhyme can be used alone, but two or more rhymes can be used in common. However, the so-called universal is not random; it must be in adjacent rhymes to be universal.

2. Composed in Bailiang style

There is a kind of seven-character ancient poem in which each sentence rhymes, which is called Bailiang style. It is said that Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty built the Bailiang Terrace and composed poems in conjunction with his ministers. Each sentence used rhyme, so this kind of poetry is called Bailiang style. In fact, Bao Zhao's previous seven-character poems (such as Cao Pi's "Yan Ge Xing") all used rhyme in every sentence. In ancient times, there was another kind of seven-character poem that used rhyme in every other sentence. After the Southern and Northern Dynasties, seven-character poems changed to rhyme every other sentence, and the seven-character poems with rhyme every sentence changed into a special poetic style.

3. Compose miscellaneous poems

Archaic poems are integrated with miscellaneous words. Miscellaneous words, that is, long and short sentences, can vary from three to eleven words at will. However, most of the sentences in the poem are still seven-character, so the miscellaneous words can be regarded as seven-character ancient poems. Because the length of sentences is not restricted, miscellaneous poems first give people a feeling of unrestrained and unrestrained. The poet who is best at miscellaneous poetry is Li Bai. He also uses prose grammar in his poems, which makes people feel that this is a completely different style of poetry from ordinary ancient poems of five or seven characters.

4. The ancient style of entering rhyme

This alternation of oblique rhyme and flat rhyme changes the rhyme of every four sentences. The difference between ancient poetry and modern poetry is very obvious. However, not all ancient poetry is completely different from modern poetry. As mentioned above, after the emergence of rhythmic poetry, even if poets wrote ancient poems, they could not be completely immune to the influence of rhythmic poetry.

Some poets pay attention to correctness when writing ancient poems (only the second character, not the fourth character), and some poets not only do not avoid rhythmic sentences, but also like to use them. This situation is even more prominent in the Qiyan ancient style.
