The meaning and appreciation of this poem

Send off a friend

Li Bai

Green mountains stretch across Beiguo, and white water surrounds the east city.

This place is different, and I have to march thousands of miles alone.

The wandering clouds are like a wandering child, and the setting sun is about old friends.

I wave my hand and go away, the sound of horses roaring.

This is a farewell poem full of poetic charm. The poet and his friends ride their horses to bid farewell, which is full of affection and touching.

The first couplet "Green mountains stretch across Beiguo, and white water surrounds Dongcheng", pointing out the place of farewell. The poet has already sent his friend outside the city, but the two of them are still walking side by side, unwilling to separate. In the distance, I could see green mountains stretching across the north of the outer city, and sparkling water gurgling around the east side of the city. These two sentences, "Green Mountain" versus "White Water", "Beiguo" versus "Dongcheng", are written as Gongli couplets in the first couplet, which is indeed unique; and "green" and "white" are alternated, and the colors are bright. The word "horizontal" outlines the quiet posture of the green mountains, and the word "rao" depicts the movement of the white water. The poem is written freely, depicting a beautiful and beautiful picture.

The two couplets in the middle are to the point and express the deep feeling of parting. The couplet on the chin reads, "I am separated from you here, and I am alone in my journey thousands of miles away." Once we leave this place, we will be like fluffy grass flying in the wind, thousands of miles away. These two sentences express deep concern for my friend's wandering life. The writing is like flowing clouds and flowing water, comfortable and natural, not limited to confrontation, and unique. The neck couplet reads "The floating clouds are wandering about the world, and the setting sun is about old friends." However, it is written very neatly. The "floating clouds" are opposite to the "setting sun", and the "wandering clouds" are opposite to the "old friends' feelings." At the same time, the poet cleverly uses "floating clouds" and "setting sun" as comparisons to express his feelings. A streak of white clouds in the sky, floating with the wind, symbolizes the friend's unpredictable whereabouts and randomness; a red sunset slowly sets in the distance, as if he cannot bear to leave the earth suddenly, which is a metaphor for the poet's reluctant farewell to his friend. Farewell against the background of beautiful mountains and rivers and the red sun shining in the west is particularly nostalgic and hard to part with. There are both scenery and emotions here, the scenes blend together and are exciting.

The two sentences at the end are more affectionate. "Waving my hand, I'm going away, Xiaoxiao class horse is singing." After seeing you for thousands of miles, you must say goodbye in the end. "Waving hands" describes the action of separation, but how does it feel inside? The poet did not say it directly, but only wrote the touching scene of "Xiao Xiao Ban Ma Ming". This sentence comes from "Xiao Xiao Ma Ming" in "The Book of Songs·Che Gong". Banma, a stray horse. The poet and his friends immediately waved goodbye and greeted each other frequently. The two horses seemed to understand their master's mood and did not want to leave their companions. They couldn't help but roar when they said goodbye, as if they were infinitely affectionate. If horses are like this, how can humans be embarrassed! Li Baihua used classical poetry and the word "class" to create new meanings and highlight the lingering friendship, which can be described as miraculous.

This farewell poem is novel and unique, unconventional. In the poem, the green mountains, clear flowing water, fiery red sunset, and white floating clouds contrast with each other and the colors are bright. The class horse roars, and the image is fresh and lively. The beauty of nature and the beauty of human nature are intertwined, and the writing is vivid and vivid. The rhythm of the poem is bright, the feelings are sincere, sincere and open-minded and optimistic, without any lingering sadness. This is exactly the characteristic of Li Bai's farewell poem that critics deeply appreciated.
