From Li Shangyin's "Han Donglang made an impromptu poem to make a surprise, and the rest of the party pursued Yin for a long time" in the Tang Dynasty. Original text:
When I was ten years old, I cut a poem and became a horse.
On Danshan Road in Wan Li, Tonghua, the little phoenix is clearer than the old one.
The wind in the sword stack is bitter and bitter. Don't wait until spring to be a world of ice and snow.
I am as thin as the sun for He Xun's couplet.
Translation:
At the farewell party where candles were lit and tears turned to ashes (yesterday), I was sad and filled with emotion. Ten-year-old Han Wo (your son) was as witty as Yuan Hu in the Eastern Jin Dynasty and soon became an article. (Soon, you will take your son to work in Zhouguo) On the Danshan Road in Wan Li.
Tung flowers are in full bloom, and the song of the little phoenix among the flowers will be more crisp and beautiful than that of the old phoenix (your son's talent will be clearer than your old phoenix's voice).
I am in Bashu land near Jianmen plank road, and you are in the windy south of the Yangtze River. We live far away. At the beginning, it was a time of ice and snow. Unexpectedly, now is the season of spring warming in bloom.
If we compare Han Donglang's poems with his talents and compare myself with Shen Dongyang, I will be as thin as Shen for a couplet.
Poetry appreciation:
This poem uses a long title to explain why it was written. Donglang is the nickname of Han Wo, a poet in the late Tang Dynasty. The fine print Donglang is Li Shangyin's nephew. He has no talent. His father Han Zhan is a good friend and brother-in-law of Li Shangyin.
In the late autumn of the fifth year of Dazhong (85 1), Li Shangyin left Beijing for Zizhou (located in Santai, Sichuan), entered the Liu Zhongying shogunate, and our time was in Dongchuan. Han Wo was only ten years old, and he was able to improvise poems at a farewell dinner, which shocked four people. Ten years later, Li Shangyin returned to Chang 'an, recited poems inscribed by Han Wo, recalled the past, and wrote two four-line songs. This is the first one.
The last two famous sentences in the poem compare Dong Lang's father and son's awe of Phoenix. According to legend, Danshan is the birthplace of Phoenix, and there are many buttonwood trees on it. Tung flowers are in full bloom, and the phoenix is in full bloom. Among them, the young Feng Ming is clear and mellow, which is better than the old Phoenix.
