The hualiu has no galloping steps, but the swan has its feathers: the horse has a fast pace, and the swan has slender feathers. These two lines of poetry are mainly used to describe lofty ambitions.
Jianbu, jiǎn bù, means walking with difficulty.
The poem comes from "Sending Friends to the Province", which is one of the five-character poems written by Guo Yin in the Song Dynasty.
