Poetry favors lyrics.
Poetry, prose and lyrics, if there are any differences among these three styles, the biggest and most essential difference is their different forms. Prose is relatively free in form, casual, tired and rhyming. This is the biggest difference between poetry and lyrics. Poetry belongs to verse in form. It requires branching and rhyming, especially ancient style. At least it is written with branches, which may or may not rhyme. Nowadays, the lyrics generally require rhyme, mainly for the convenience of matching with the music score for singing. If it doesn't rhyme, it may be awkward to sing. Of course, there are some lyrics that don't rhyme. As far as rhyming lyrics are concerned, they are not much different from modern poetry. In a few cases, modern poetry can also be used as lyrics. The lyrics are also modern poems, such as Yu Guangzhong's Homesickness. Another difference between modern poetry and lyrics is their content. Lyrics are generally easy to understand and straightforward, and there is no need for twists and turns. However, modern poetry is just the opposite. A good modern poem, which appeals to both refined and popular tastes, is implied. Different people may have different understandings.
