A collection of poems and songs is composed of 150 hymns or lyric poems, which can be called the "Book of Songs" in the Old Testament. It is the most popular, valuable and widely used classic in the Old Testament. When our Lord Jesus was alive, he often used these hymns to express his gratitude, praise and prayer to the Father.
The collection of poems is like Five Books of Messer, which has been divided into five volumes since ancient times, and each volume ends with "ode to honor" (41:14; 72: 19; 89:53; 106:48; 150); However, in these five volumes, there are also a group of small poems, either because of the same poet or because of the same etiquette, such as113-17 as hymns, and 120- 134 as hymns for the temple.
Regarding the division of the number of hymns, "Greek version and Latin version" is different from the original version. Today, the Chinese version still adopts the method of dividing the original text into articles. If there are any differences between the Latin and Greek versions, the titles should be marked with Arabic numerals so that readers can know what to do and the quotations will not be wrong.
Most hymns have a subtitle at the beginning, pointing out the background of the author or writing, or the tunes and accompaniment instruments to be used when singing, or what etiquette is applicable. Scholars think that these titles are not original, so they are printed in small font.
Although the author of "Odes to David" is not one person or at the same time, it has always been called "Odes to David". This is because most hymns are written for David.
According to the content and genre, hymns can be divided into the following categories:
Hymn: praise God's majesty, omnipotence, faithfulness, justice and his love;
