In later generations, whenever the Chinese nation is in danger, Du Fu's poems will become the spiritual food of the whole nation. When the Northern Song Dynasty was about to perish, Zong Ze, a patriotic star, had no chance to cross the Yellow River to resist the nomads from the Yellow River because of the constraints of the imperial court. On his deathbed, he remembered "but before the conquest, he was dead, and the heroes cried on their coats" (book fragrance). Li Gang, who commanded the thrilling "Tokyo Defence War" in the history of China, personally wrote Du Fu's poems for his relatives and friends at the critical moment of the enemy's siege to show his determination to swear to the city. The most famous example is Wen Tianxiang. He spent three years in prison after being caught by Mongols in Yanjing. For three years, he was unyielding, adhered to national integrity, and finally died calmly. What sustains him? He said in "Song of Benevolence and Righteousness" that "books are laid under the eaves of the wind, and the ancient roads are full of color". This book is first of all a poem by Du Fu. Wen Tianxiang wrote 200 poems about Du Fu in prison, and reassembled Du Fu's original sentences into five-character quatrains as the core connotation of his national integrity. Even in modern times, when the news of Japanese imperialism's unconditional surrender reached Chongqing and Chengdu, Du Fu's idea that "the banks of the Yellow River were recaptured by the imperial army" was the first thought of many people who had left their homes because of the war. This poem "News from the Far West Railway Station! The north has been recovered! At first, I couldn't stop the tears pouring down from my coat, which best expressed people's mood at that time.
Second, Du Fu is a person who attaches great importance to self-cultivation. His lifelong pursuit is to become a "Confucian". He was called "Poet Sage", which was first put forward by the Song Dynasty and was honored as "Master". Any traditional literati knows what these four words stand for, because this is what Mencius said about Confucius. Mencius said that "sage" is "the highest state of human relations" (Mencius Li Lou), which is an unusual title. However, Du Fu did not expect that he was a "saint" all his life, but he was proud of his Confucian identity all his life. According to statistics, the word "Confucianism" appeared 45 times in his poems. Except for one time, it refers to "dwarf", and the other 44 times refer to "Confucianism". He called himself "Confucianism" and "Old Confucianism" ("Going out to send the old Confucianism" and "Rowing out of Gangneung Nanpu to send Zheng Shaoyin"), and even used the ironic word "rotten Confucianism". We can't deny that he has wavered in Confucianism all his life, because he once said in Seven Poems Written by Jutonggu County that "Confucian scholars in the mountains have known each other for a long time, but their words hurt their arms", and he lamented that he and a Confucian friend in the mountains had no chance to realize their arms. However, Du Fu's most valuable thing is that even in this case, he did not change the core of his thoughts. Until his deathbed, when he was wandering on Dongting Lake, he could proudly call himself "a rotten scholar in heaven and earth". Taking his life as a whole, he really meets the requirements of Confucius that "a woman (you) is a gentleman and a woman is a villain" (The Analects of Confucius is eternal night).
Du Fu is an active participant in the WTO. He doesn't see the darkness of politics like Li Bai, so he travels around the world without asking about political affairs. In the process of wandering around, he has been looking forward to the opportunity to play for the king. In his early years, he claimed to be "just yesterday's Youth Day" and was already a national guest. Reading breaks thousands of volumes, and writing is like a god. Empower the enemy with materials and build a home with poetry. Li Yong seeks knowledge, and William Wang is willing to be a neighbor. Boasting to be quite outstanding, Li Deng wants Jin Lu. To the monarch Yao Shun, and then make the customs pure "("Give Wei Twenty-two Rhymes "), the words are quite proud. It is such a person who is full of ambition, but he is not satisfied all his life. Finally, "Chang 'an is bitter and cold, and Du is sad. "... hunger is approaching ten days, and we can't unite a hundred knots. You don't see the end of the empty wall. At dusk, the old man shed silent tears ("Men in Tou and Hua Counties"). However, his "entry into the WTO" is more manifested as a civilian role, taking his own morality as an example to influence others. There are many people with lofty ideals in the history of China, but most of them are the type of "national subjugation and extinction". On that long list, only Du Fu appeared as a civilian of "Shaoling Night Old Man" and "Ling Du Buyi". At this point, Du Fu is more like Yan Hui praised by Confucius ("Xian Zai Hui also! A spoonful of food, a spoonful of drink, in the mean lane, people can't bear their worries, and they won't change their fun when they go back. "The Analects of Confucius Yong Ye"). Looking at it from another angle, Du Fu, who insisted on his ideal under any circumstances and actively demanded political progress, was even better than repeatedly complaining that "the Tao cannot be done, and you can float on the sea with a fork" (The Analects of Gongye Chang), "I lost my husband until the phoenix bird arrived, and the river flowed out" (The Analects of Zi Han). Confucianism has always advocated the idea of "endogenous king", thinking that a good politician must have noble moral sentiments, that is, the so-called "self-desire to stand up; "You can achieve whatever you want" (The Analects of Confucius, Yongye) Ordinary people live an ordinary life, and as long as they can achieve the perfection of moral personality, they can be called "saints". Mencius originally admitted that "everyone can think of Yao and Shun". By Wang Yangming's time, this statement had evolved into "saints are everywhere", because human nature is good and everyone can reach the level of moral nobility. But it's a pity that most people have lost their true colors in this big dye vat of society. From this point of view, it is really commendable that empowerment exists in the world, so he can be called a "poet saint". The word "saint" pays more attention to his personality charm and moral standards.
