"Speech" on Mental Health
Hello, ladies!
It's an honor to meet you, and thank * * * for providing us with this opportunity to communicate with you. First, let me introduce myself. I am a full-time counselor in the consulting studio. My name is * * *. Today, I want to take this opportunity to share my knowledge about psychological counseling with you. At present, psychological counseling is a new industry in China, especially in the inland province of Henan. Many people are not familiar with it and need a process of cognition and acceptance. Based on this situation, I just want to exchange two questions about the popularization of psychological counseling with you today. One is mental health, and the other is psychological counseling. Speaking of mental health, I think everyone will know something more or less, but many people are not very clear about this concept, so I want to ask you what is mental health here? Some friends may say that mental health is mental health. This answer can't be wrong, but it's not very comprehensive. Here, I borrow the definition of mental health issued by the World Health Organization: The so-called mental health refers to the development of one's mental state to the best physical, intellectual and emotional state within the scope of not contradicting the mental health of others. This concept is abstract, specifically, there are four aspects:
First, mental health is the coordination of body, intelligence and emotion, which can adapt to the environment. In other words, when you go to a strange place, you can quickly adapt to the new environment and new life, and have strong self-adjustment ability. Let me give you an example. There is a young woman who will study abroad soon, which is a very happy thing for many people. However, as the date of going abroad approached, she suffered from persistent anxiety, insomnia and other emotional abnormalities. Why? Through the psychological counselor, it turns out that this lady is afraid that she can't survive in a foreign country and an unfamiliar environment, which leads to psychological imbalance. Through this example, we can see that the woman's physical and emotional mediation ability is insufficient. However, I believe that many people here have done a good job in this respect, otherwise they may have psychological problems to varying degrees.
Second: mental health means giving each other humility in interpersonal relationships. For example, a female visitor comes to consult. The purpose of her consultation is to get rid of uncontrollable impulses in the office. What makes her so? After patient consultation, I learned that the woman was in a bad mood because she just hated one of her female colleagues. The annoying reason is that her female colleagues always talk to her boss in a subtle way. Love and hate are human nature, but they affect her normal work. Do you think such a woman is mentally healthy?
Third: Mental health is happiness. This is very important. I want to do statistics. If you think your life is happy, please raise your hand. . . . . . . ) Not many people raised their hands. I want to ask you, we have a good life now, our husbands like us, and our children are very smart. So why can't we feel happy? Some ladies may say, no money! By the way, it is because our life and ideals are unrealistic and there are too many unfinished plans. You earn 1000 a month, but you always want to spend 3000. Can you do it? I can't, so my mind is unbalanced and I lose my happiness. There is a proverb that "the contented are always happy". Let me give you another example. Leslie Cheung, a famous Hong Kong actor, is a combination of wealth and fame. There are countless fans who admire him, including myself. How happy he is in the eyes of ordinary people. But under his fame, who knows that he also suffered the pressure brought by his feelings and career, so that he could not extricate himself from his physical and mental imbalance and finally committed suicide. It is a sad thing that Leslie Cheung's suicide caused many fans to follow him. If Leslie Cheung could have a sense of happiness and adjust his bad mood with the help of a psychological counselor, we wouldn't sigh for the death of this superstar today. So I hope everyone will cherish your life, cherish your life and cherish the happiness in your hands!
Fourth: Mental health means being able to exert one's abilities and lead an efficient life at work. In other words, we can have fun at work. I once heard a friend say that nowadays people are tired of doing a job, accounting is boring, marketing is hard, business is afraid of risks, and civil servants are monotonous. In short, few people are satisfied with their jobs. So can you give full play to your potential when we are doing jobs that we hate and have no passion? I don't think it's possible. You may work hard to make a living, but you will never feel fun at work, so it is impossible to explore your potential ability at work.
After listening to the above four standards of mental health, I think most people dare not say that they are mentally healthy, but it doesn't matter. Occasionally there will be some psychological problems. As long as we don't let bad emotions spread to all aspects of life, we can adjust our mental state in time. This is a normal phenomenon. For example, SARS appeared in the first half of the year. When people learned that SARS was highly contagious, they panicked and went through a serious psychological test. After SARS, most people returned to normal life, while a few people suffered from obsessive-compulsive disorder and washed their hands repeatedly, unable to shake off their fears. Can you say that these people are mentally healthy? They need the help of psychological counselors for psychological counseling, otherwise they can't live a normal life.
These are mental health problems. Next, I will talk about psychological counseling. Psychological counseling originated from the American career guidance movement and developed in the 1940s. Seeing a psychiatrist in America is as common as seeing a cold and fever. In 1980s, psychological counseling began to develop, but the development speed was very rapid. This year's National Day, Shanghai's psychological counseling room was full, and many people from other places went to Shanghai to seek the help of psychologists, indicating that many people have realized the importance of mental health in their lives. So what is psychological counseling? Rogers, a famous psychologist, explained that "the communication between psychological counselors and individuals is continuous and direct."
