How can I play the drum set well?

Basic skills are the most important shortcut for drummers to make progress. Drummers often stagnate and can't break through, feeling as if they haven't made progress for a long time, just like entering a period of job burnout. In fact, this is a problem that everyone will encounter. Everyone has his learning process. It is normal that he will add the methods and contents he has learned to his students and teaching. It is precisely because of such different learning methods that everyone will have different performance styles. There are different opinions about which learning method is better, and it doesn't matter whether it is right or wrong. Personally, I think it's good for me.

1. The importance of seeking benefits: never rely on your own cleverness. Asking is the driving force, not asking is the stumbling block. You ask me questions, which shows that you are inferior and I am superior to you. This concept seems to be in line with China's logical view, so the questioner is afraid of being looked down upon, and if the interviewee is not careful, his arrogant attitude will inevitably hurt people. I won't answer if you don't ask. This moral concept is no longer applicable in modern times. Some people, who sincerely help others, may have been surpassed, but those who are taught may be willing to give back to permanent friends in the future, so humility and win-win is the best policy for both sides! No matter who teaches and learns, don't think that there is only one learning method. In fact, all roads lead to Rome, but especially those who study should not use this as an excuse to avoid the necessary study. In addition, for beginners, there are not enough conditions to judge the ability of so-called musical views, so they often accept them all and mistake them for truth. Therefore, it is best to accept all the results in order, but then slowly calm down, ponder, confirm, find out the right thing and regard it as reference information instead of blindly taking it as a standard.

Second, get to the bottom of the matter: no matter what study, the spirit of getting to the bottom of the matter is very important. If you don't delve into the attitude towards learning, you can't understand it deeply, and you may also study with the wrong concept, which will lead to low learning efficiency. For example, if you bought a set of famous brand drum noodles, did you immediately start to use them with big drums? Do you have the habit of consulting the instructions first? Have you tried more usability of different combinations? Or would you like to spend some time learning the installation and maintenance of drum treads? Or study how to make full use of drumming? For example, if you encounter a more experienced blow, should you just drink tea or ask a few more questions in the hope of learning some experience? Do you think twice when someone tells you an answer? The habit of asking questions is actually only formed invisibly in such a trivial matter.

3. Understanding and analysis: Drummers will add special decorative paragraphs and accents. I am loyal to my consistent pattern at ordinary times, repeating it over and over again, but lacking in change. In Indian classical music, fixed patterns are longer and more complicated, and perhaps more likely to reach thousands. In India, the modes of some percussion music are spoken orally, which completely imitate and express the sounds and rhythms of different drums through a set of memory systems or syllables of sounds. Learn from the teacher, memorize all the patterns and practice these combination patterns. The drummer's head becomes like a computer memory, and these patterns can easily emerge suddenly during the performance. If learners do not have the ability to understand and analyze, it will be more difficult to make progress. For example, some people don't have a solid basic practice, so they just make a sloppy rhythm. Some people learn golden sentences everywhere, and practice them well on the basis of single point, double point, three point, four point, five point, six point and seven point ... but it is still difficult to apply them. They can imitate the music they have heard, and they are at a loss when they encounter something they have never heard before. The key problem is that there is no concept of percussion, such as the rhythm of songs, the division of beats, the rhythm structure, the collocation of sentences and so on. For example, it is one thing to understand the content of drum music, and it is another to be able to use it at will. Only by refining it will it know that there are so many mysteries and keys in it.

4. Orthodox education: More than 20 years ago, the only way for China to learn jazz drums was the apprenticeship system with master and apprentice. At that time, even books and teaching materials needed to be imported from the United States, Japan and other countries. Unlike developed information media, it is easy to get all kinds of learning materials. Now, like most disciplines, many conservatories at home and abroad have set up percussion departments, and the school system teaches percussion skills. For people who want to study efficiently, the school is really a good place, and they can also get a degree in percussion through formal education.

5. Other 543: There are too many basic exercises, rhythms, passing and phrase structures of jazz drums to be practiced, and some people waste a lot of time practicing chapters that are rarely used in actual performance, which is illegal. Therefore, it is particularly important to pick out the practical practice chapters and practice them in an orderly way. Then listen, watch, imitate and communicate with other drummers. One day, you will play the drums as you like, and the phrase structure you think can be presented immediately with the drums. You have the ability to interpret poetry freely, but not out of order. Often record your own music performances and review and improve afterwards. A tape recorder is the best teacher.
