I recently read Feng Jianting's poem Never Go Near Love, and thought it was a good poem (essentially about the relationship between two people).
Never approach attachment.
We are alone in the dark space.
You always keep your head down and take everything away without saying anything.
Our distance becomes unpredictable.
Why do you keep looking back?
And my eyes are full of longing for meeting and returning.
Why on such an autumn night?
There is an attachment that can never be approached.
After careful study, I feel that if the title of this poem is changed to Two Trees, reading the whole poem will not be a "figurative poem" of the current life scene, but will become a great overall symbolic poem with far-reaching significance. Of course, the will of the poem is still the original will given by the poet, but the ideological and artistic quality of this poem is much higher than the previous title. Speaking of the whole symbolic poem, the author takes Ai Qing's Tree as an example to elaborate. tree
A tree, a tree
Wind and air are independent of each other.
Tell them the distance
But under the cover of soil,
Their roots have been elongated.
In the unseen depths
They twisted the roots together.
Ai Qing's Tree is not a simple object poem, but a general symbolic poem, because it has profound implications and rich connotations. The first four lines of this poem are a natural picture, so real that no one can feel the uniqueness of the picture. But the word "but" in the first line of the last four lines of this poem leads the reader's eyes from the ground to the underground. It is also the turning point word "but" that closely connects the natural picture on the ground with the natural picture on the ground, so that readers will not feel uncomfortable when reading. Here, the poet tells readers that although trees stand alone on the ground, their roots in the ground are intertwined.
Looking at the whole poem, I feel that this poem is not only about the natural picture of trees, but also about the social picture of using trees, that is, the subtle interpersonal relationship between people. More precisely, when the poet wrote this poem, he symbolized and implied a living state and spirit of the Chinese nation.
I think that if the poet Ai Qing's ontological feelings are directly expressed, the background of that era is not allowed, so I found a universal symbol to symbolize and imply the ontological feelings in the poet's heart. The times we live in today are different from those of Ai Qing. Although the times also allow us to express our thoughts and feelings directly, poetry is an implicit language art, and straightforwardness is a taboo. We still have to strive for the overall symbolic poetry art.
In a word, when we construct the overall symbolic image of poetry, the poet's ontological feeling is often an abstract thing that can't be seen, touched or heard. Therefore, using poetry to express this emotion can be described in detail, because poetry language is visual language. How to describe it? In short, it is to materialize the mentality of expressing ontological feelings into a sensible image. It can be said that it is difficult to construct the overall symbolic image of poetry, and a good overall symbolic poem is often the crystallization of the poet's life experience and spiritual epiphany for many years.
