We even lost

-pablo neruda

We even lost this evening.

Nobody saw us holding hands tonight,

When the blue night comes to the world. I saw it from my window

Sunset celebration at the top of the mountain in the distance. Sometimes a piece of sunshine

Burning in my hand like a coin. I remember you, clutching my soul.

You know my sadness. Where were you then?

Who else is there?

Say what?

Why did the whole love suddenly come to me?

When I am sad, I feel that you are far away from me. The book that is always turned to at dusk is dropped.

My cloak rolled under my feet like a wounded dog. Always, always you retreat at night.

Where the statue was erased towards dusk.
