Jeremiah Eames Rankin (18281.2–1.9031.1.28), pastor of the congregational church in Washington, was the sixth president of Howard University (a famous black university). Jeremiah Yi Musi Rankin was born in Thornton, New Hampshire. He graduated from Middlebury College in 1848 and studied theology in Andover. After completing theological research in 1854, he served as a pastor in Presbyterian and congregational churches in new york, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Washington.
1869 received a doctorate from Middlebury College. Since 1870, he has been involved in the affairs of Howard University, and successively served as the school board, professor of theology and president.
Besides "God be with you until we meet again", he is also the author of another popular hymn "Speak to Jesus".
John W. bischoff (1850-1909) was blind at the age of 2. During 1874- 1909, he played the organ in the congregational church in Washington.
William Gould Tommer (1833101October 5–1September 26, 896). William Gould Thomas studied singing in the choir of Finsville, New Jersey in his early years. /kloc-started teaching at school at the age of 0/7.
During the American Civil War, he worked in the Northern Allied Forces, worked as a clerk in Washington, D.C., served as a church music director, and finally taught in New Carpentsville and Greenwich, New Jersey.
