What was the original name of The Book of Songs?

The Book of Songs, formerly known as Shi or, was revered by Confucianism in the Han Dynasty and has since been called The Book of Songs. It is China's first collection of poems, which lasted for about 500 years from the Western Zhou Dynasty to the mid-Spring and Autumn Period, and it is the general source of China literature.

Here are the folk songs collected by the Zhou Dynasty in each fief, namely "Wind"; There is a tune of the Zhou Dynasty directly under the Central Committee, namely "Ya"; There is a sacrificial music song in the ancestral hall, namely "Ode". There are 305 complete works, of which 160 is the wind, which is also the part with the highest artistic value.

Characteristics of The Book of Songs

The Book of Songs is rich in content and reflects a wide range of life fields, which can be said to be an encyclopedia reflecting the social outlook at that time. There are "six arts" in The Book of Songs, namely, style, elegance, ode, fu, comparison and prosperity. The first three refer to content, and the last three refer to expression. The sentence pattern is mainly composed of four characters, mixed from two characters to eight characters, and repeated sentences in multiple chapters, which enhances the lyrical effect and has flexible rhyming methods.
