How did Cao Xueqin die?

Cao Xueqin died because he looked down on the disease. In the twenty-seventh year of Qianlong (Renwu 1762), Cao Xueqin was forty-eight years old. Due to the early death of his young son, he was extremely sad and bedridden. He died in Beijing on New Year's Eve this year.

Cao Xueqin is the author of China's classic A Dream of Red Mansions. His ancestral home is disputed. He was born in Jiangning (now Nanjing). Cao Xueqin was born in Zhengbaiqi, the interior office of Qing Dynasty. He is the grandson of Cao Yin, a weaver girl in Jiangning, and the son of Cao Yong (the son of Cao Fu).
