According to Buddhist classics and customs in China, the bell of 108 has three meanings: the first meaning is that there are 24 solar terms and 72 cycles in a year (in ancient times, it was called five days as a cycle), and the sum of 12, 24 and 72 is exactly 108, which means a year and a review of the old year. The second meaning is to express the memory of 108 Buddhist elders; Third, you have 108 troubles in a year. According to the Buddhist scriptures, "When you hear the bell, you will be wise, and bodhi will be born", so you can get rid of all your troubles by ringing the bell 108. From New Year's Eve (1979, 12, 3 1), Suzhou held the first New Year's Eve bell-listening activity in Hanshan Temple, which has been held for more than 20 times. Nearly 30,000 Japanese tourists from home and abroad came to Hanshan Temple to hear the midnight bell.
