Whose work is Nine Songs?

Nine Songs is the work of Qu Yuan.

Qu Yuan (about 340 BC-278 BC) was a great patriotic poet in ancient China. He advocated using talents internally, cultivating statutes, and uniting external forces against Qin. Later, he was exiled to the Yuan and Xiang river basins because he was excluded by the nobles. His main works include Li Sao, Nine Chapters, Nine Songs and Nine Questions.

The style of "Chu Ci" initiated by him is unique in the history of China literature, and it is also called "coquettish" with the Book of Songs, which has had a positive impact on later poetry creation.

The Creation Background of Nine Songs

"Nine Songs" was created by Qu Yuan after being processed according to folk sacrificial songs in the south of the Yangtze River. The topic is copying ancient questions. According to Li Sao, "Nine Debates and Nine Songs are inspired, and Xia Kang entertains himself".

Tian Wen: "Ji Bin Merchants, Nine Borders and Nine Songs". According to legend, there were nine songs in Xia Dynasty. Judging from the emotional appeal of Mourning for the Nation, it should be a song to mourn the soldiers killed in the battle of Danxi. The specific time was in the 17th year of Wang Huai (3 12 BC), after the Battle of Danxi and before the Battle of Lantian.

Nine Songs is different from Qu Yuan's other works, but it is fresh, sad and deep. Obviously, due to the use of folk materials and the integration of folk songs, this style is somewhat unique compared with his other works.
