Vergilius, Publius V.Maro
Ancient Roman poet. Born in the Andes village near Mantua in southern Gaul in the Alps. After receiving basic education in his hometown, he went to Rome and southern Italy to study philosophy, mathematics, and medicine. He returned to his hometown in about 44 BC and engaged in farming and poetry creation. He was the most important poet of the Augustan period in ancient Rome.
Virgil's first published collection of poems, "Pastoral", contains 10 poems. Virgil's second work, "Agricultural Poems", was written between 37 and 30 BC.
Virgil's most important work is the epic poem "Aeneid" (first translation of "Aeneid"). "The Aeneid" is the first epic poem created by an individual in the history of European literature. It has been highly praised since its publication until now.
