Genre of Works: Five-character Ancient Poetry

Year of Creation: Southern Dynasties

Original text:

The breeze shook the trees, and fine snow fell under the curtain.

The air is like fog, and it condenses like a flower.

I didn't see Yang, but I saw Gui Zhibai.

No tears, no humanity, what's good about lovesickness?

Translation:

The slight wind gently shook the trees in the courtyard, and the thin snow fell in the gap of the bamboo curtain.

She is floating in the air like fog, and there are beautiful flowers on the steps.

I can't see the willow sprouting in the yard to welcome the spring, and the cassia twig is white, but it is just an empty branch.

Sad tears, but no one can say this feeling. What's the use of being so affectionate and sad?

Appreciation of works:

This poem is about chanting snow, but it is actually a feeling of watching snow. The snow written in the work is neither the snow in the wilderness wrapped in silver makeup nor the snowflakes flying all over the sky, but the fine snow in the courtyard of Jiangnan. Standing under the curtain, the author never looked beyond the courtyard.

The first sentence says that the wind shakes the trees in the courtyard, which is called breeze because the trees move. Obviously, the movement of the trees in the yard is different from that under the strong wind. The "fine snow" in the second sentence corresponds to the "breeze" in front, and both have the characteristics of the snow scene in the south of the Yangtze River. The "down" of the "lower curtain gap" corresponds to slight wind and thin snow, so it can fall into the gap of the bamboo curtain.

The phrase "wandering in the air" describes the posture of snow in the air and on the steps. The "turn" here is that the ring is trembling. Snow lingers in the air like fog, which can only be found in "fine snow", because it is "thin" and can "wander in the air", which seems to have been floating for a long time; Because it is "thin", it is "like fog".

"Step by step" is opposite to "residual gas", but what we see is "residual gas", but the snow on the steps condenses like flowers, but it does not fall. This is different from "lower curtain gap". The poet stood under the curtain, saw the snow at the edge of the curtain, and knew that he had fallen from the gap in the curtain. As for the steps, the snow has condensed and you can't feel it falling. It seems that the snow in the air is dancing blindly, but the snow on the steps is only condensed, moving, static and irrelevant.

"Like a Flower" not only writes the color of snow on the steps, but also vaguely leads to the following two sentences. After the author wrote about the sky and the earth, his eyes returned to the "courtyard tree" in the middle. The sentence "can't see" begins with the "genealogy" in the first sentence. Willow and laurel are both part of the family tree. "Yangliuchun" refers to leaf green, and "Guizhi Bai" refers to flower hair.

It's the middle of winter. Gui Zhi is white and looks like a flower, but the willow trees in the court are not green, so you know that white in Gui Zhi is not a flower. From the first sentence to this point, it is all scenery, which the poet saw when standing under the curtain.
