Reading Notes

Children nourished by ancient poetry get not only poetry and literary talent, but also the value of life and destiny.

After reading Yin Jianli's book A Good Mother Is Better than a Good Teacher, I became interested in the influence of "ancient poetry" on children.

The book expounds the influence of children's reading ancient poems from the following aspects.

First, the beauty of ancient poetry!

China's classical poems condensed the essence of our mother tongue, and with its unique sense of rhythm, rhythm, aesthetics and other characteristics, it always exudes charming and noble temperament from ancient times to the present.

The beauty of ancient poetry lies mainly in Tang poetry and Song poetry, among which the classic poetry deserves our constant praise.

Therefore, in children's childhood, we should spend more time reciting classical poems instead of wasting time on mediocre works.

Second, the reading method of ancient poetry-speak less and read more

Children are two or three years old and can't understand the meaning of ancient poetry, so how can they teach ancient poetry? Do you need to translate the child sentence by sentence? Obviously not necessary! We don't even need to make any explanation, just read the poem sentence by sentence to the children and let them "recite it".

In our concept, "rote learning" is not a good word. Although the things memorized in this way are stored in our brains, they are either easy to forget or useless.

However, when children are young, we don't really want them to understand ancient poetry, because they don't understand it either, but let them experience the sense of rhythm. Under the influence of ancient poetry for a long time, children will gain more sense of our mother tongue.

In our Chinese teaching, both Chinese and English need a lot of recitation, because "a clever woman can't cook without rice", without a lot of language accumulation, there will be no language output, so recitation is the basis of language learning.

"If you read a book a hundred times, you will understand its meaning."

When children grow up, with the increase of experience, they will naturally understand the true meaning of poetry.

My children began to learn ancient poems when they were over one year old. The earliest ancient poem recited was Luo's Ode to Goose. This poem is simple and easy to remember, and it is the best introductory poem. When I was teaching this poem, there was a picture of a white goose in Zhang greatly. Later, every time I pointed at the goose, she could understand it and recite it. After that, I taught her a Tang poem almost every month, and gradually two poems a month. There are simple pictures when teaching, and children can understand poems and recite them.

Third, appreciate ancient poems without utility.

We always like to let our children recite ancient poems in front of people, as if this is the capital to show off-look how smart my children are!

When we have this utilitarian heart, let the children lose their pure mood for poetry and let them think that reading ancient poems is to show off, not because they like it.

Only when you like it can you talk about acceptance, and you can appreciate the beauty of language, artistic conception and imagination of poetry! If you don't like it, even if you can recite more poems, you are a person who can't read poems.

I made the same mistake with my children. Once I had a video chat with my child's sister-in-law, I asked her to recite some Tang poems. Of course, my children have been praised several times. This is my utilitarian heart at work!

Therefore, when teaching children to read ancient poems, they should be interested and like them.

Fourth, study with children.

Maybe everyone will say, I also want to cultivate children's interest in ancient poems, but all the ancient poems I recited before have been returned to the Chinese teacher, and I can't remember a few.

It doesn't matter, we can study with our children!

Studying together is a wonderful thing, which is more likely to arouse children's interest and give us a sense of accomplishment.

Once, I taught my children to read Wang Wei's poem "Painting": the distant mountains are colorful, but the water near them is silent. Spring has passed, but there are still many flowers and flowers. People go nearby, but the birds are still not disturbed.

When I taught again the next day, I only remembered the first two sentences. I can't remember the third sentence. The child said "the flowers are still there" next to me. The child's memory surprises me. Then I found this poem and read it again with my children. I kept it firmly in my mind this time.

Therefore, learning ancient poems with children can also improve our cultural literacy. Why not?

Finally, the nourishment and edification of ancient poetry on our lives is what a wonderful wealth!

So, please let the ancient poems accompany the children forever!
