In most people's minds, peanuts are difficult to germinate without shelling. This phenomenon is obvious, because we often miss peanuts after harvest, but these peanuts will germinate slowly if they stay in the soil for a long time. In fact, what is said here is that planting peanuts with shells will affect the germination time. Personally, I think it is better to plant peanuts after shelling. The reason for this is the following:
Sow peanuts directly in the ground after peeling, or soak them to break their dormancy and let them germinate early. After sowing peanuts, because they are not bound by peanut shells, they directly take root in the soil after contacting the soil. If you bring a peanut shell, peanut bud still needs to consume nutrients to open the peanut shell. Although this process is not difficult, it will also hinder the time for peanuts to break ground.
We have planted peanuts for decades, all with shells. In the 1970s, it was still a huge group. Members all make a living by working. We went to primary school and took part in agricultural production on Saturday and Sunday, such as throwing peanut seeds, corn seeds, catching corn bugs and managing rice. Planting peanuts in spring coincides with Sunday, and the captain will arrange for students to throw peanut seeds. Peanut seeds were shelled, but in those days, in order to prevent children or pests, voles and the like. It is not white peanuts that are planted. The peeled flowers are soaked in urine for a long time. When pesticides are mixed in plant ash, they will fall off and their hands will be covered with urine ash. Peanuts are shelled.
Later, we planted peanuts ourselves, and we peeled the shells before planting them. Every year after the Chinese New Year, I can't go out to do farm work in rainy days, so I often peel some peanuts and prepare to grow them myself. A few days before we plan to plant peeled peanuts, we must choose a sunny day to wake up the seeds. As soon as the sun shines, the dormancy period is over and it is easy to germinate. So we think it is better to peel peanuts.
I have never planted peanuts with shells, but after digging peanuts every year, peanuts with shells still sprout. In autumn, the temperature is higher than that in spring, and there is more rain, so they will germinate. Peanuts with shells may only absorb a little nutrition from their shells, and others may not be beneficial. This is my personal opinion.
