What are Su Shi and Huang Tingjian called? Why is the spread of Huang Tingjian's poems far less than Su Shi's?

1. Huang Tingjian is one of the "Four Students of Su Men", and he is also called "Su Huang" with Su Shi. After seeing his poems, Su Shi praised them greatly, and then his poems became famous all over the world. But why, since we started studying, we have recited countless poems of Su Shi and learned a lot about Su Shi's poems and the stories behind his poems, but we know very little about Huang Tingjian and can't tell why.

2. Huang Tingjian is not only brilliant in poetry and prose, but also gifted in calligraphy. His running script is greatly influenced by Su Shi, which gives him more chic and atmosphere. In his book theory, he also saw the appreciation and admiration of Dongpo's calligraphy. In cursive writing, Huang Tingjian was a student of Zhou Yue's, not only learning from famous artists, but also benefiting from some insights in life. Just like Wang Xizhi, when Huang Tingjian was traveling and enjoying the landscape, he suddenly realized the heaven and earth contained in the words, so his calligraphy began to have a brand-new connotation.

3. Returning to his poems, why are there not so many well-known poems that are highly respected? In fact, people who have seen some appreciation of Huang Tingjian's poems should know. Huang Tingjian's poems, though wonderful, are just wonderful in one difficulty. Different from Li Shangyin's Untitled, Li Shangyin's Untitled has no background and doesn't know how to appreciate it. Huang Tingjian's poems have three difficulties: difficult to understand, difficult to appreciate and difficult to teach. This is also a common feature of Song poetry.

4. It is difficult to understand. In Huang Tingjian's poems, every sentence can reflect his profound literary background, or it has deep meaning or ordinary quotation. It is very difficult to explain it just by annotation. After all the annotations are finished, combined with the whole poem, I find it a little confused.

5. While it is difficult to appreciate and impart, Huang Tingjian's poems are very interesting, that is, they contain some philosophy and truth of life, which is more difficult to understand than ordinary feelings. Moreover, Huang Tingjian's poems are full of Zen, which is something that can only be understood but not expressed. If you say it, you will also lose the Zen.

6. Huang Tingjian's poems are excellent, but for these reasons, they are far from our lives. Only some people who specialize in studying or love ancient poems will understand and interpret the beauty of poems. However, for the cultural history of China, this is definitely a precious wealth.
