Wu Yueguo's poems

■ Jiaxing Poetry Talk

You can go upstairs on the lake every day.

I don't go to Guo all the year round and comb my hair in the afternoon.

If you taste a glass of your favorite wine, you will get nothing in return.

Children can lick carp and concubines can handle lotus boats.

Every time I hear from Nanpu, I still want to travel in the next month.

Fang Chun turned around and waved it. He stayed for a long time when he was alone.

The fast horse is a proud official, but he has no requirements.

The morning light is near the jade steps, and the heart is surging.

Don't be like yesterday, what do you say in a few years?

Should you know your foreign affairs and be alone?

This is a poem written by Qiu Wei, a Jiaxing poet in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. It is also the earliest poem describing the South Lake that we can see today. Qiu Wei, a 96-year-old native of Jiaxing, was born and died in the first year of Tang Dynasty to Zhen Dynasty. In his early years, he was very tired and studied hard at home. In the first year of Tianbao, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty (742), he was a scholar, and he was tired of being an official to the son of heaven. At the age of 80, she returned to the official position, and her stepmother was still there. She lived in Nanhu and died at the age of 96. Qiu Wei has deep contacts with great poets such as Wang Wei and Liu Changqing, and has a lot of poetic exchanges. The whole Tang poetry contains 13 poems. Wang Shiyu, that is, Wang Wei, once supervised this proposal, so he called it. There are many poems in Wang Wei's poetry collection, such as "Send Autumn to the East" and "Farewell", which shows its deep origin with. Qiu Wei must have more peace poems, but unfortunately, I can only see this one today.

Qiu Wei's poems tell about Wang Wei's life after retirement, and also leave a record of Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing in the Tang Dynasty. Jiaxing was under the jurisdiction of Suzhou government in Tang Dynasty. Suzhou Prefecture governs Wu, Changzhou, Jiaxing, Kunshan, Changshu, Haiyan and Huating, which is equivalent to the Hangjiahu Plain in southern Jiangsu and northern Zhejiang today. Jiaxing and Haiyan at that time included Jiaxing, Shanghai and Hangzhou today. The Tang Dynasty was the heyday of China's feudal society. Great economic development, Jiangnan developed. Jiaxing's geographical location and the convenient transportation of the Grand Canal make it an important region in China. Later, the "An Shi Rebellion" war was painless, but it became the rear support base for the Tang Dynasty's counter-insurgency. After the "An Shi Rebellion", the Tang Dynasty resumed its economy and further developed Jiangnan and Jiaxing. Jiahe apologized, Jianghuai thrifty, Jiaxing became an important "granary". There were not many poems singing Jiaxing in the early Tang Dynasty, so this poem by Qiu Wei is particularly precious.

The poem is written around the "lake", that is, the Nanhu Lake in the southeast of Jiaxing City today. There are many lakes on both sides of the canal, which play the role of water storage and drainage. The poet used a lot of space to write that he lived in a beautiful place by the lake and lived a carefree life with a glass of wine and friends visiting each other. Between the lines, it is full of love and boasting about hometown. In the last four sentences of the poem, I wrote my feelings after I left, wrote my pleasure of seclusion by asking questions, and implicitly advised my friends not to stay in officialdom. In his later years, Wang Wei was also tired of officialdom and became a famous pastoral poet in the prosperous Tang Dynasty, so Qiu Wei shared the same interests with him. This poem shows the friendship between two people.

As can be seen from this poem, South Lake has long been a landscape in Jiaxing, and it was also written in some later Tang poems. In the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, the Central Plains was at war, and Jiaxing belonged to Wu Yue State, which was relatively stable. So further development, South Lake became a scenic spot, and a garden terrace was built by the lake. From then to today, Nanhu and Yanyulou have been promoted and abolished several times, and countless historical celebrities have left footprints here. This should be a long epic.
