Legend of Guan Gong Temple

As Guan Gong's home temple, there are naturally many stories about Guan Gong's family background, many of which have already been transformed into buildings and objects in this temple. When generations of worshippers walked into this antique temple with pious feelings, they learned about Guan Gong's story and recognized Guan Gong's culture, which was far richer and more vivid than historical books, novels, plays, folk art and so on circulating in the world.

According to the folklore of Guan Gong's hometown, Guan Gong, who read Spring and Autumn Annals less and understood benevolence and righteousness, was very angry with the local bullies when he was young, so he bravely stood up and fled his hometown after killing them. Guan Gong's parents, in order to let Guan Gong break the care of his absolute parents and reassure him, both of them threw themselves into the well. In order to commemorate their strong and resolute parents, later generations built brick towers beside their wells for people to mourn. This tower is still well preserved in Guan Gong's temple, telling the world the past of Guan Gong's youth and his sad and miserable family affairs.

The sage temple in Guan Gong Temple is dedicated to three generations of statues of Guan Gong's ancestors and his grandparents. In the legend of Guan Gong's hometown, Guan Gong's ancestor was Guan Long, a loyal minister of Xia Dynasty. Guan Gong's great-grandfather, grandfather and father are simple and kind people who have been studying and carrying on the family line. The unique statue of Guan Gong's ancestors in the Guandi Temple in the world makes the connotation of Guan Gong's culture richer, deeper and more systematic. The connotations of "loyalty, faithfulness, righteousness and courage" in Guan Gong's culture come from China's ancient culture, which has a long history and has been handed down from generation to generation. Guan Gong's culture includes not only traditional social morality, but also traditional family ethics.
