Since 1965, brodsky's selected poems have been published in the United States, France, West Germany and Britain. The main collections of poems are Rhyme and Poems (1965), Hills and Others (1966), Poems (1966), Mourning for John Deng and Others (1967), etc.
In p>1972, brodsky was deported from the Soviet Union. Soon, he accepted the invitation of the University of Michigan to become a resident poet and began his teaching and writing career in the United States. In 1977, he became an American citizen. He was a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Arts and Literature, and a member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences for Communication.
while living abroad, brodsky published his anthology in more than ten languages, especially Selected Poems (1973) and Part of Speech (198). In addition, there are prose collections Less than One (1986) and On Sadness and Reason (1996). In a short period of one or two decades, brodsky gained a reputation and became one of the most famous poets in the contemporary era. He has a keen observation and sensitivity to life, with an open and frank mind and sincere and gentle feelings. His poems are full of Russian flavor, especially after exile, homesickness has become one of his important poetry themes. In art, he has always been "close to two predecessors, Akhmatova and Auden", pursuing innovation in form and harmony in phonology.
