Bamboo writing is a kind of folk art, in which the rapper plays the clapping board with one hand and the jieziban with the other.
Bamboo writing was formed in Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty (1796-182). The performance mode of bamboo writing is that a person stands and sings with a big board in his right hand and a small board in his left hand. According to the oral legend of the old artists of bamboo writing, during the Jiaqing period, the empress dowager died and the imperial capital was forbidden to use orchestral instruments for 1 days, which made it difficult for many artists in Beijing to make ends meet. In order to make a living, Liu Danchi, a drum artist who came to Beijing to perform art, gave up the string rope with his teacher Zhang Liankui and sang with bamboo boards instead.
Liu Danchi's disciples are divided into two branches. One branch is represented by Jin Yonggui, which descends from Wan, Fu, Lai, Lin, He, Guo, Shun, Yu, Hai and Chao. With Wang Yongxiang as the representative, the next generation is Spring, Morality, Celebration, Tian, Xiang, Chang, Ru, Sheng, Mao and Xuan. The late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China were the prosperous period of bamboo writing in Beijing, and many representative artists appeared, among which She Lairong and Jia Baoshan were the best. They performed in Dong 'an Market, Chaoyang Gate, Mentougou, Tianqiao and other places, which were very popular with the audience.
Historical overview:
Bamboo writing was formerly called "Luozi", which sprouted in central Hebei in the late Qing Dynasty. At that time, due to the cruel exploitation of the feudal ruling class, there were many beggars in central Hebei. Some beggars are called "playing with the hipbone" when they are begging, drilling holes in the hipbone and tying bells, shaking and singing their own jingles. Later, some people switched to the tune of bamboo board accompaniment and applied it to "chanting happy songs" when holding weddings in rural areas.
