2. Rhyme is one of the basic forms of modern poetry. It sprouted in the Qi Yongming era of the Southern Dynasties, shaped in the early years of the prosperous Tang Dynasty and matured in the middle and late Tang Dynasty.
Quatrains are one of the basic forms of modern poetry. In the Tang Dynasty, metrical poetry, as the general name of modern poetry, also included modern quatrains, and later it was divided.
Second, there are different periods of existence and development:
1, ancient poetry, including all kinds of poems before the formation of the Tang law, including poems written in ancient style after the Tang Dynasty. With the Tang Dynasty as the boundary, the pre-Tang poems from the Book of Songs to the Southern and Northern Dynasties are all ancient poems.
2. Metric poems originated from Shen Yue and other new-style poems that focused on rhythm and antithesis in the period of Qi Yong in the Southern Dynasty, and were further developed and stereotyped by Shen Quanqi and Song in the early Tang Dynasty, and prevailed in the Tang and Song Dynasties.
3. The quatrains originated from Yuefu short chapters in the Han, Wei and Six Dynasties, and were named and stereotyped in the Southern and Northern Dynasties.
Third, the metrical requirements are different:
1, ancient poetry, there is a fixed poem, there will be a fixed style. Compared with modern poetry, the metrical restrictions of ancient poetry are less. The length can be long or short, and the rhyme is more free and flexible. There are four words, five words, seven words, miscellaneous words and other forms. The ancient poems after the Han and Wei Dynasties are generally dominated by five or seven words, with certain rhyme and inflections.
2. Regular poetry can be divided into broad-sense regular poetry and narrow-sense regular poetry:
(1), the generalized metrical poem is very inclusive, allowing one deviation and three tails.
(2) In a narrow sense, metrical poetry is very strict, and there are strict rules in terms of words, rhymes, levels and antithesis.
3, quatrains can be divided into quatrains and archaic quatrains:
(1), rhyme with rhyme, pay attention to fluency and neatness according to the characteristics of rhyme.
(2) Although ancient quatrains rhyme, they are relatively free, or some poets are unwilling to be bound by meter.
