What is Mérimée’s creative background?

Mérimée was born on September 28, 1803. His father was a painter, but his father wanted him to study law. In college he became interested in literature. In 1822, Stendahl had a great influence on his artistic views. After graduating from university, he obtained the title of lawyer. In 1825, he published "The Dramas of Clara Gasul" under the name, which was a success. This drama collection later included 10 short plays, most of which criticized the church and the nobility; among them, the short comedy "The Eucharist Carriage" is the most outstanding, which tells the story of the Spanish Governor in Peru giving up the carriage to his mistress. The story of being fooled satirizes the tyranny, stupidity, hypocrisy and depravity of aristocratic figures. In 1827, Mérimée once again published a collection of poems anonymously called Jusra. The form imitated Yugoslav folk songs and was very popular. Pushkin once translated several of them into Russian. In 1828, he published the historical drama "Legend of Jacques", which described a peasant uprising in France in the 14th century with realism, criticizing the restoration dynasty based on the miserable life of the peasants and the brutality and cruelty of the nobles.
