Selected Children's Poems by Kaneko Mirei|Stars and Dandelions

Believe in seeds, believe in time | Issue 2

Stars and dandelions

In the depths of the blue sky

Just like little ones on the bottom of the sea Pebbles

Stars during the day

Falling and waiting for night to come

Invisible to us

Although we see Missing

But they exist

Some things cannot be seen

But they exist

Withered and scattered dandelions

Quietly hidden in the cracks of the roof tiles

Its strong roots

Waiting for the arrival of spring

Invisible to our eyes

Although we cannot see it

but they exist

Some things cannot be seen

but they exist

- About the author -

Mirei Kaneko (1903-1930) was a Japanese nursery rhyme poet who was active in the 1920s. She was born in Senzaki Village, Otsu County, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. In her poems, she uses children's most natural state to experience and feel the world: "Don't tell anyone / okay? In the early morning / in the corner of the courtyard, the flowers / quietly shed tears. If this thing gets out and reaches the ears of the bee, it will fly back and return the honey as if it has done something wrong.
