2 Introduction to Thai Major
Courses offered: Basic Thai, Advanced Thai, Thai Listening, Spoken Thai, Thai Writing, Thai Translation Theory and Practice, Selected Reading of Thai Newspapers, Thai Literature, Basic English, English Audio-visual Speaking, English Writing, and English Translation Theory and Practice. Elective courses of this major include: Thai history, selected readings of Thai poems and selected readings of Thai economic and trade works.
Training objectives: Thai majors train compound talents who have solid basic skills in Thai listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation, master the language, literature, history, politics, economy, culture, religion and society of the target country and region, and can engage in diplomacy, foreign trade, cultural exchange, press and publication, education and scientific research with an international perspective.
Training requirements: Thai majors require students to have a solid knowledge of Thai language and literature, understand Thai history, society, culture and religion, as well as political, economic and diplomatic conditions, encourage students to learn English and similar professional languages, and minor in a second degree; Students are required to master the basic skills of Thai listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation, have strong language application ability, understand the basic methods of literature retrieval and information inquiry, and have strong practical work ability and preliminary scientific research ability.
