What does the word "passerby" mean in ancient poetry?

Passers-by in ancient poetry: refers to laymen, people who are traveling, officials who are on their way to their posts, and so on.

In ancient poetry, people on the road usually don't use these three words directly to describe them, but more are hidden and implicit.

For example: "the ancient road is sparse, and the heartbroken people are in the end of the world." There is a desolate passerby in the picture, but the word passerby is useless, but it is more charming and imaginative to read.

People on the road are mostly used in ancient Chinese (classical Chinese) and narrative, and there are many places needed for serial communication.
