Cen Can was a famous frontier poet in the Tang Dynasty, and he was called "Gao Cen" with Gao Shi, and "Three Frontier Heroes" with Gao Shi and Wang Changling. His poems are bold and unrestrained, full of the enterprising and vigorous spirit of the times unique to the prosperous Tang Dynasty, and "Seeing Judge Liu on the Western Expedition in Wuwei" is one of the classics. It's a farewell poem written before sending Judge Liu (Dan), a good friend, to Wuwei to join the army. Let's specifically look at Cen Can's song "Wuwei sends the judge Liu Qixi to March":
There are few people in the Flame Mountain in May. See you ride as fast as a bird. ? All Hu Junying are in the west of Venus, and a horn will shake Xiaohutian.
In the first sentence, "There were few pedestrians in the volcano in May", he pointed out the season and place of his friend Judge Liu's long-distance trip to the army. That is, in May, Judge Liu will go to the Flame Mountain. "Volcano" refers to the flaming mountain in Turpan, Xinjiang today. Flame Mountain, as its name implies, has a hot climate, especially in May, when "the fire clouds are all over the mountain and birds fly thousands of miles away and dare not come", there will naturally be "few pedestrians". But it is the only way for Judge Liu's trip, which shows the difficulty of traveling.
The second sentence "Watching your horse die like a bird" is based on the first sentence "It's hard to go" to highlight Judge Liu's extraordinary courage. This poem means that although the road to the Flame Mountain is very difficult, I want to see Judge Liu ride as fast as a bird. It can be seen that this is a flaming mountain where birds dare not come thousands of miles away, and it is as sick as a bird at the foot of Judge Liu. This shows his indomitable spirit. In fact, from this poem, we can see Cen Can's vigorous brushwork and the unique spirit of the times in the Tang Dynasty.
